![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | hola , Wow , I have been sitting back so long watching that I feel like I’m interrupting . Any-who I have been looking for the perfect rebreather and seem to get further from the objective the more I look , or its delayed latent learning that never catches up? I’m stuck here in the middle of the US with some grandiose idea of closing my dolphin . I have been teaching SCR for some time and have grown to dislike telling the students “ ya that’s it” as if its so magical that they just made a dive that could be done just as easy with a 100 cft cylinder on OC. So with that said I have been looking at TMISHOP.com and TECME.de and a few others as the years seem to go by and have made the commitment to go for it . Any insight for those who have gone before me would be great. I have named the new rebreather (old ass borrowed) concept the “shell back” as I have a comical design for the shell I will send photos as we progress. I have several of my older students who are working on the project with me and have been poking at the festering pimple on the ass of progress. |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Hola, Senor Shellback, Glad you decided to go public. We have a lot of folks who are in various stages of "closing" their Dolphins. Be sure to check in with them and get lots of ideas, and "I tried that, but it didn't work!" reports! Have fun! Rob

Sorry but it will have to be a lowly tadpole untul such time. I am also a closed dolphin diver and you will find Ron at www.tmishop.com very helpful.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Hi Shell-back, It can be alot of fun and certainly a learning curve. Tecme and tmishop and PPO2.com are all good references, as is all the private web sites with information that helps you make a decision one way or another. Don't be frieghtened to ask questions, we all get further ahead by "standing on the shoulders of giants". Wiz http://www.kissthedolphin.com for my little project. (sorry it hasn't been updated in awhile. I will be able to do so soon.) |

Just looked at your web page are you still using the oxy2 for po2 monitoring? I found it does not work for CCR. The computer seems to interpret a rising ppo2 as a rapid descent. I incurred some horrendus deco time until I figured that one out.Don't be frieghtened to ask questions, we all get further ahead by "standing on the shoulders of giants". ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Hi Wedivebc, no I have moved on from the Oxy2 and aladin. It worked fine and the PPO2 "spiking" is something to watch but good enough for the simple diving side. I moved onto a Mark Munro PPO2.com unit and then my own made of the same (flooded Mark's). And I also have a HDD from Richard in South Africa /JDZ in Melbourne. (A combined effort). All is going great, no glitches no hassles all the way through to 100m so far. I promise to update the site shortly when I get proper internet access again. |

I don't trust my oxygauge below 50m and my munro housing gets damp below about 20m so I am working on a reliable ppo2 for that kind of depth. I am building a HUD using the same flash sequence as the meg uses for actual ppo2 measurmentI moved onto a Mark Munro PPO2.com unit and then my own made of the same (flooded Mark's). ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Hi Dave, the 100m dive was to the wreck fo the Cambridge last year in Sept on the New South Wales / Victorian border here in Australia. It is a great wreck, BIG. The unit didn't miss a beat and I adjusted the PPO2 once during the bottom time. I didn't have the HDD by then just mine and a friends borrowed Mark Munro. http://insane.bug-e.net/Puffer/PPO2/index.html is the unit which JDZ modified to make into a HDD (which Richard is also doing now) Mine has a two colour LED and vibrator and Richard moved the warning alarms to suit my diving. This is a very high quality unit. I have had mine to 36m or so, and therefore it needs more testing for depth but I can't see a problem so far. I wouldn't have trusted the Oxy past 40 or 50m, but the PPO2.com unit may just need a new type of housing. (that is why mine flooded, scrooging on the glands. DOH) A few guys here in Melbourne have had theirs to 85m and so forth. I am considering a Mark Munro "one display three sensor" unit as I can run two sensor from one hole in the lung and run the HDD off the other. Giving me three in total. Still thinking. Hope that helps. |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | No shortage of CCR Dolphin info here at Rebreather World. I think mine is the most recent conversion. After hearing of several issues with mark munroe PPO2's leaking, I decided on the HydroSpace Engineering PO2 meter. Turned out to be a good choice so far. I use the HSE computer as well, so I'm already used to the buttons and interface. I got parts from both "The Danshop" and "Tecme". both very nice to do business with. I'd recommend them both, the guys here steered me right. I opted to do my O2 addition at the scrubber inlet, and got one of the adapters from tecme with the shrader valve in it that replaces the scubber inlet snout. This was the one item that was poorly done. It's too long and needs to be trimmed by about .350", and the oring spigot where it fits into the scrubber is a bit small and a normal oring won't seal. I had to stack 2 slightly larger orings there to get a positive seal. The 2 screws that were included, were too long as well. They were brass and easy to shorten, but I would have thought they should have been stainless steel. Anyway, these folks are always happy to help out, so if I can do it, I know you guys can.
