![]() | Big Hi, First time posting and Hello Hi all on Rebreather World, First of all let me confess that I'm not a rebreather user but I am an OC diver with 30 years of getting wet and in later years not so wet. I was directed towards here by one of your members, Aquaholic from Leeds, and have been fettling her KISS Classic for her. She's got the pizzas and the supply of Delrin and I've got the lathe so apart from my SWMBO it is a match made in Heaven or Stoney or somewhere like that. First of all I tried to fettle the Paragon BOV following a disService...now in Anke's spares box, I then fettled a ScubaPro D400 to fit as a direct replacement of the Paragon..its in current use. Next came the various adapters to fit various other 2nd stages...one side fits into the DSV hole and the other side either fits on the inside of the donor reg or round the outside:- Apeks Manta,TX or ATX, Poseidon Cyclone or Jetsream, and Dacor or Oceanic end diaphragm types. I was just about to try to get my hands on one of the smaller Mares 2nd stages when somebody beat me to it...you can't be first all the time... Since then I have built from scratch a BOV prototype that bolts onto the front of the KISS, a bit like the Gollum one but on the front not underneath, using a combination of Apeks TX/ATX tubes and balance chamber and Manta/Sentinel/octoplus diaphragm and purge cap built into a scratch body to take into account the 90 deg rotation of the tube/ diaphragm position...the secret weapon is the deflector to allow the venturi to blow into the DSV. I'm currently working on the mark II version to sort out the O-ring arrangement between the BOV and the DSV: Anke is currently diving the D400 with freshly Hellicoiled UNC threads so I have work and make mistakes without actually keeping her DSV chez moi....will get round to finishing it soon and I'll then have to arrange another fitting session... So hello again and if I can help in any way drop me a line, it helps me pass the time when not fettling regs or actually diving. Cheers for now BrianC aka Diver_repairs |
