Hello to the Rebreather World

Hello Rebreather World, I am an active diver in Greer, Sc. I am an SDI instructor with TDI certifications in Advanced Nitrox, Decompression Procedures and Extended Range. In June 2006 I was able to participate in a "Rebreather Experience" with Divetech in Grand Cayman. The experience was awesome and the Divetech Staff was the best resort staff I have ever worked with. I would like to get certified for CCR diving and purchase a high end CCR. I used a Sport KISS during my experience and I'm sure that's not what I want. My primary interest is DEEP diving. How do you pick a Rebreather that's right for you?

Welcome to Rebreather World. This is certainly the worlds largest repository of rebreather information.
There are as many opinions on what is the best rebreather and why as there are members but for me, (as a former SK owner) I wanted a rebreather that I could trust and felt would take me to the places I wanted to go. Deep cold wrecks and more recently warm dark caves.
I am sure there are many on here who will help you decide what is right for you.

Welcome to Rebreather World,

The way I did it was talking to end users, especially why they chose and did not choose. Talking and meeting with the manufactures (Dema or BTS) and then I just flipped a coin

Re: Hello to the Rebreather World

Greetings from lower SC.

I am still kind of based out of Charleston, although stationed overseas for a while. I looked at several options before I bit the bullet, but I ended up choosing a unit that was bulletproof (well, except for TSA, right Jo? ) and configurable. The Megalodon for me was the right unit. It's not the only one that offers these features, but once I put my hands on it and saw the build quality, I was sold. It along with a few other units has been used at some impressive depths and there are a few articles on here that cover just that.

Best of luck and welcome to the machine.
