| Fitting a backplate l'm fitting a backplate to my inspo and want to know what's the best way to attach the ends of the lungs? l have a couple of traps which slide onto a waste belt but because l mount a cannister torch Dir stylee it would mean sliding the strap on after the torch and l can see this strap getting lost. So what do others do?

| Re: Fitting a backplate l'm fitting a backplate to my inspo and want to know what's the best way to attach the ends of the lungs? You might consider making the loop on your cansiter large enough to pass over a "trap" and short lenght of 1" webbing and male buckle.l have a couple of traps which slide onto a waste belt but because l mount a cannister torch Dir stylee it would mean sliding the strap on after the torch and l can see this strap getting lost. So what do others do? If you secure the buckle close to the "trap" you can fold the buckle over the waist belt. Now you have a "lump" to pass the canister over. Might not be the easiest thing to ditch the canister if need be, that would be my concern. Tobin

Howard, l have a couple of traps which slide onto a waste belt but because l mount a cannister torch Dir stylee it would mean sliding the strap on after the torch and l can see this strap getting lost. So what do others do? If you are going to fit a backplate mount your torch on there. Keeps it nicely out of the way and keeps your front less clustered, like you have enough stuff up front!! Alan |

I am probably going to get two of these Counterlung attachment, Rebreather Specific Niknaks at divingniknaks the UK's No 1 scuba gear online store Leave it cliped inot the counterlung whilst your putting the torch on then thred it on. | Re: Fitting a backplate I have an Agir 6 kilo backplate and one piece harness. I have a loop of bungee which I slide onto each side of my waist harness. This is simple, cheap and very robust. KISS applies! If you want to continue to mount your canister on your waist then the loops continue to be an effective way of securing your CL's. When sitting on the bench doing pre-dive checks, I include looking at the bottom of each CL to eyeball that the loops are secured properly on each side. You could presumably get a clip for the bottom of each CL and clip each one on but why not KISS? Bungy is unlikely to ever break with so little strain on it but male and female clips? We all know they have a habit of breaking! Usually just before you dive Charlie |

| Re: Fitting a backplate I have a piece of bungee attached to one of the CL d-rings, I just pass it through the other CL d-ring and clip it off to the scooter ring on my crutch strap. works a treat and is dead easy to get on and off Dave |

I got the fastex clips off the old harness and had the webbing sewn at a cobler. I've only done a few dives with it, but works perfectly. DeepSeaSupply Counterlung Attachement Hardware ![]() ![]() |
