Vision Download

Hello, only me again!

Another quick question and it has probably got a blindingly obvious answer but...

Now I have got my unit home, I've finally donwloaded the Vision

All the dives that I have done so far, including the silly little ones when I was playing about in the pool, now appear in my APD logbook and have dive profile data except..... my very first dive on the unit!

It appears to have downloaded everything including 2 dives back in December 2004 logged by Mike at AP, which I presume were just test/ simulated dives unless he's capable of doing 2 x 50m dives back to back at 7am

I've tried downloading again, but it still doesn't come through; although it does show up on the log.

I thought that maybe it will only hold all the dive info for say 20 dives, but it has downloaded 22 dives, so that doesn't make sense. I thought the whole purpose was that all the dive information was stored for every dive so if something should go tits up the unit can be plugged in to view the data.

Sooo its got me scratching my head as I'm missing my very first dive on my unit, and it was a fantastic dive and I really enjoyed it; but now I can't see it

PS I've had a look through the manual but can't seem to find anything... maybe I'm not looking hard enough

That's because you'll never forget the first time

Maybe. Or because it indeed can't hold all the data inclding the dives (you mean graphs, I asume). Uwatec dive computers used to be like that. The computer itself could only hold something like 5 cpmplete dives with graphs, but the general data of 20 or so. Just curious that it wouldn't overwrite the factory test dives first ...

I'm sure someone here with Vision electronics has figured it out.

Most probably it was a fantastic dive though.. nothing too exciting just the first time on the unit, did an hour and just bimbled about with cuttlefish and big nasty spider crabs... just a dive I'd like to look at the log for

That's what I thought, but I can't seem to find anything anywhere that says whether it does or doesn't. Maybe I need new contact lenses Although I do not know, if this is the case, why it has not overwritten the factory dives

I'm hoping but I don't appear to be having much luck

I did notice that when I tried to download the dives again, the stats showed on the download completion that 21 dives had been downloaded and 0 skipped. It seems like it has completely ignored that first hour I did...

Oh well may try emailing Nicky or someone at AP

The files are organized by your Rebreather’s serial number – underscore – the date the dive was made – underscore – the time of the dive. For example one of Mike’s logbook files is stored like this: 04I000001-041215-075905.ccr. He did this dive on a unit with the serial number 04I000001 on Dec 15, 2004 at 7:59:05am.

It seems odd that you would be missing one dive. With this information check the files for the date and time of that dive just to be sure that you haven’t skipped over it.

My logbook also shows two of Mike’s dives. My guess if that they are sample logs in the software and are not on your handset. This would explain why you don’t see them being downloaded.

I have sent an email to the North American distributor regarding the storage capacity of the handsets. Perhaps it will only hold 20 full dives. Will report back.

Don't you just hate when that happens.

I like Westwinds thought of the two dives being samples in the program rather than in the controller.
That makes sense.

That should work for you. Bad odds for me, women ignore me even more than computers.

Below is the response to my questions from the North American distributor:

" ... The logbook holds 48 dives with basic information. Date, Time, Max depth and dive time. It then over writes the earlier dives. This can be either viewed on the handset in menu mode or the logbook tab in the Log Viewer software.

It will also log 12 hours of detailed information that can be viewed with the Log Viewer. To ensure you keep all the detailed information you need to down load your dives to your PC before the 12 hours are up.

There are 2 sample dives made by Mike Etheridge already in Log Viewer ... "

Hi WestWinds

Thank you for your PM and thank you for asking about the capacity etc for me

This therefore, makes sense, sort of... the 12 hours though... mmmm is that 12 hours of divetime or 12 hours that the handsets have been on... just curious... but it would explain either way, why I am missing my first dive!

Thank you for your help

Lou

Had a PM from Martin Parker regarding the Vision download in response to my post. I hadn't actually got round to emailing AP just yet regarding it, so I was pleasantly surprised and very much appreciated the mail.

Quote: (Originally Posted by Martin Parker)
The two dives (Mike's) come with the Vision software, as someone has deduced..
The data store time in the handset is approx. 9 hours.
This is overwritten by subsequent dives from the start, so you always should have roughly the last 9 hours of dive data.

The handset only stores 48 dives - but for those 48 dives it only stores a limited amount of data... storing only the dive No. the time and date of the dive, the maximum depth and dive time - and this data appears on the logbook page of the LogViewer or on the LogViewer screen in the Deco menu on the handset. The dive No. goes up to about 64,000.
Many thanks

Lou
