I seem to be having a problem with the Evolution not completely shutting down! I went to go for a dive today and after I flashed up the unit failed the battery check B1 and also indicated that there was no Master Controller 1 so I aborted the dive and went home to install a new battery (did not have a spare on the boat!). After closer examination with a new battery in B2 and the old B2 in B1 I was not able to flash up the system and the screen was blinking on and off. I removed the batteries and let the Rebreather sit for a few minute and tried again with no luck the same thing kept happening. I have sent this off to Mike Fowler in hopes that he can help me as I have paid for a dive holiday at the end of Feb. Any help would be great, thanks Rob

Re: Battery Problem I think Thanks I will give Nicky a ring. I hope she can help me out, I let the head sit with out batteries in it overnight and reassembled it in the AM and so far things seem to be OK. I am going to try a shallow dive with it this weekend. It seems strange for this to happen now I have had the unit since April 06 and have 90 dives with 60 hours on it and no problem like this has ever happened Rob

Re: Battery Problem I think I've had a similar problem with my Inspo. I set up and tested everything prior to a weekend's diving - fresh batteries and no problems with the checks. The weekend got blown out so the unit didn't even leave the house. A few weeks later I went up to the local quarry. Nothing needed doing to the unit as it was still set up from last time. I turned the unit on at the site and the batteries were flat. I replaced them and did the dive without incident. Back at home I cleaned eveything down and left the head to dry over the bannister. Later on my girlfriend told me the head was whining. She was right, there was a very quiet hum coming from the buzzer. After a couple of days of playing about with the head what I found was: 1. The handset wasn't completely turning off. You could just see a shadow of the LCD display if you held the handset at a sharp angle. 2. The buzzer was humming quietly (too quietly to be heard on a boat etc). 3. The only way to get the the buzzing to stop and the handset to come back on was to remove the batteries from the head. 4. Leaving the batteries out of the unit overnight cured things. I think there must be some sort of capacitor in the handset, as just removing the batteries and then putting them back in still meant the unit wouldn't shut down and come back on correctly. The root of the problem seemed to be not holding the buttons down for long enough when turning the unit on or off. I now press and hold the buttons rather than a sort of short tap and don't have any problems.

| Re: Battery Problem I think That seems to be the root of the battery problems when the B1 battery is a little low . Always hold down the button down for a count of 3

Re: Battery Problem I think I was aware of holding the button for a three count when flashing up but I did not know about doing the same when shutting down. Thanks and I will assume the new SOP .Rob
