| Calibration failed Hello All Me and my partner went for our first dives over christmas on our rebreathers since finishing our MOD1 course but we did experience a couple of problems and was wondering if anyone could shed some light on them. 1. Carried out -ve and +ve test and all went well turned on master handset calibrated no problem then turned on slave handset and nothing didn't even turn on Never even had a low battery warning on our course). opened head and swapped batteries round then tried both handsets before re assembly and both turned on fine. 2. After reassembly from above got to calibration and got cell 3 warning cell missing. Removed head and cell holder fiddled with wires and put it all back together and all calibrated fine (this is the second time we have had this cell warning / missing problem on this unit and cell) When it calibrates all cells are within 0.1 of each other. Anyone had the same problems. Barry |

| Re: Calibration failed sounds like a bad cell or corrosion in the wiring, like Charlie says talk to ap, please do NOT dive it like this Dave |

| Re: Calibration failed Possably a solder joint problem giving intermitent power on the battery box for the hand sets issue and then coroson on the cables for the cell 3 error. On the cell issue swap out cell 3 for cell one and it should move the error to cell one if its the cell. The Molex conectors need ocasional cleaning. I had a few minor cell issues and taking the molex apart and using contact cleener on the ends of the wires and the molex conector its self sorted some of them out. As above unless your an electronics wiz and can handle it, its back to AP with the unit. Sadly I doubt if they would piss about trying to find out the actual problem and will no doubt trim back & re wire the head reguardless. This is fine but the loom can only cope with a couple of cut backs and then you need a new loom. ATB Mark Chase

| Re: Calibration failed yes it does matter when you turn the slave on, if you turn it on after the master has calibrated the slave will miss the calibration factors best method is to turn master on, wait for beep beep and solenoid click (its important to listen for these) then turn on slave, it will say "waiting for data" now go through the routine and the slave will drop into dive mode when the master is finished HTH Dave |

| Re: Calibration failed Sounds similar to a problem that I had when I received my refurbished Classic. I had a contact in the battery box corrode and have to be replaced (hadn't even made an open water dive on it yet). When it came back, the right hand controlled display was acting up when initially turning it on, the battery was draining down over-night, and the alarm would sound and the switches (on both displays) were in the off position. ![]() After the second warranty trip back to SDS, it was discovered to be a loose wire (evidently loosened when the battery box was replaced) shorting out and allowing the power drain. Since they fixed that wire, have had no problems with displays, alarms (while switched off), or excessive drain on the batteries. ![]() LP Dutton |

| Re: Calibration failed We have had similar problem in terms of the cell missing/replace. Your wire into the molex could be corroded and maybe hanging on by a thread. When you fiddle with it it makes the conection to the cell but with vibration and movement the wire moves and results in a faulty connection. In time, probably very soon, the wire will break from the molex. To solve this problem you need to trim your cell wire until no more black is showing and then crimp a new gold molex connector. This is done easily with care and patience. Alternatively you have corrosion (black stuff) on the gold molex connector. You could carefully remove the gold molex from its plastic cover and clean them up as someone else has suggested. In terms of the dead slave handset, you have a power drain problem, assuming you have been using this handset only as the slave since a new battery was inserted. Some brands of batteries do just die without a warning. If your handset has only been used as a slave then replacing the battery is only a short term fix as within a couple of hours of use you'll get a low Bat warning or no dive bat warning. Problem is caused by either the soldering on the wires on the battery box or the switch on the handset is worn or you have water in your handset. If your not handy or don't have the patience to work through the battery issue then I'd send it back to AP for an overhaul. Might as well get them to rewire the head and put in the new Vision wiring which eliminates corrosion on the cell connection and thus one less problem to deal with in the future.
