Vision + HH secondary, what do you think

Hi guys,

I have a HH for sale but it doesn't generate a lot of interest.
I was thinking about butchering it and combining my Vision with the HH secondary.

It should not be too difficult
- drilling two extra holes (could I use the 4 cell holder ??)
- adding the diva & secondary to the Vision head
- connecting all cells

I could mount the Diva on the back of the Travelfram so my budy could see the light.

Benefits:
Extra HUD - possibly viewable for buddy
Independent O2 monitoring
Independent dive monitor (depth, time, temp)

Not so good:
Extra calibration of the secondary
More wires
Warranty issues
Extra SP management under water

What do you guys think?

Peter

On a tangent note (if you don't mind)...

Is it possible to splice the optical connection on the Vision HUD so an addition HUD (aka BUD = Butt Up Display ) could be mounted facing backward on the unit so the buddy could see the unit status ?

Without knowing anything about optical cable, I am guessing something like a Y-splitter mounted on the lid with 2 cables out: 1 long to the diver HUD (as normal) and 1 short for the one facing backward.

Just thinking out loud...

I don't think the leds are visible from a distance.

[quote=PCDiver;89753]- drilling two extra holes (could I use the 4 cell holder ??)

This should not be a problem with the 4th cell holder (http://www.narkedat90.co.uk/47.html) and it frees you from drilling holes in your head (and loosing waranty). Only downside would be that the 4th cellholder has only 1 entry for a cable gland. If you need a second for your HUD cable you'll have to request an extra hole (but I think that would be possile if you ask nicely).

As for the rest, I'm NOT familiar with the HH so I can't tell you if putting the HH in parallel to the Vision will influence cell-vallues. I guess Kevin is the best person for that part of your question.

Cheers,
Paul
