| Annoying fish since 1992 Current Rebreather/s: | Re: Vision electronic poll I have been diving my Vision electronics upgrade for about 7 months now - maybe 40+ dives? I'm very happy with it. Never a problem with functionality. The only problem I had was LCD discoloration - 'hot' spot on warm days but on cold deep dives it had a dark band across the bottom of the LCD. Eventually sent it back and had it replaced free. |

The only problem I had was LCD discoloration - 'hot' spot on warm days but on cold deep dives it had a dark band across the bottom of the LCD. Eventually sent it back and had it replaced free. This is a common fault related to a batch of defective / inadequate heat sinks. The first member of my lot who suffered it had to fork out for repair and was told it was his fault for leaving it in the sun. Then the problem became wide spread and it turned out to be the dodgy heat sink. In my dive group and immediate circle of dive buddies we have 7 Visions. All have had had faults (despite Darren saying his is perfect) two have had multiple faults. These ranged from the missed deco when we haven't even been diving yet problem (remember that one m8). This one happened simultaneously to all the Visions on the boat on the same day. Worst was Trevor's completely dead hand set. Some of the problems were sorted by software upgrades so i don't really consider them any thing more than teething issues. Some like the screen bloom and the failed hand sets needed back to base repair. Looking back and trying to remember all the faults the list was something like: Internal timer run time error Missed deco error 21% trimix error (any trimix dill with 21% o2 reverted to air) Screen bloom Shut down sequencing issue resulting in dead batteries (on going but OK if you know about it) Total failure of hand sets As far as i can remember only two divers missed dives due to unit failure. The same number of missed dives for the 2 X Meg's in the group. Meg issues were Micro switch failure and Solinoid failure. There was another menue scrolling issue on the Meg but it didnt cause a missed dive. We had no missed dives on the two Classics but in my case that was more luck than anything else as I would have missed a dive due to a cracked hand set but it was canned anyway. I had two dives cut short by problems of rebooting on the Hammer Head and one where I had to dive the unit manually. All the above in 2006. ATB Mark Chase

| Submerge Productions Current Rebreather/s: | Re: Vision electronic poll I had two issues with my Vision: 1. This was a minor one. I had the low SP bumped up to 0.87 during a shallow lake dive. The controller reported a cell error for one cell. It showed a value of 50% of the real value. A reboot of the controller fixed it. Suppressing the fault was also an option since all deco calculations were OK (cell was voted out) and the solenoid was triggered correctly. We could reproduce this fault on other Visions. The unit went back to APD to investigate this problem. They gave me a new unit because I was going on a trip. 2. Screen went blank during a dive, HUD and controllers continued to function normally. This was a battery management issue. My unit went back to APD for troubleshooting. They upgraded the software to a newer version with improved battery management. No problems since. Three of my friends also dive Visions. They had no problem so far. Because of APDs excellent service I did not miss a single dive. Would I buy the Vision again? Absolutely. Would I recommend it to others? You bet. |

| Re: Vision electronic poll Phi You need an option for both Hardware & Software faults ? I have had the screen bloom issue but mine stayed all the time even when diving ,I have also had the software issues of the timer on trimix .

| Re: Vision electronic poll You need an option for both Hardware & Software faults ? Yes, I had thought about it but at the end, I felt that you could determine one must be more critical than the other. So chose that one...
