| Vision Electronics Display Problems????? I have heard of problems with the handset display on the Vision electronics and wonder how many people have had problems. I did a dive last weekend to about 90 meters and noticed my display was more difficult to read than normal (darker). It returned to normal at shallower depths. I fear that it will become too dark to read if I go any deeper. The other problem I have heard of is a growing "blotch" on the screen (that some say may be caused by heat or sunlight). Who has had to send their unit back to deal with this? |

| Re: Vision Electronics Display Problems????? the blotch is from pressure on the screen it seems and i've only seen it in in the summer. other than a worry that it could cause problems over time i don't think it really amounts to much, once under water the screen cools and the blotch goes away. since my wife's unit went back to AP they replaced it free of charge by request. the replaced layer of plastic/cover does not cause this. we baught ours in april of 06, newer units are said to have the newer version as stock. I have never heard of the issue of the screen changing contrast as you go deeper. I have had problems reading the screen due to pressure sqeeze on my mask...got a mask that i can keep a little more extra pressure in in and it seems to no longer be a problem. any other bugs seem to be completely eliminated by proper batteries (fijitsu's or duracell ultras)...at least for us. Mostly happy sailing now ![]()

Difficult to read towards at 90m, easier to read closer to the surface - DUDE use a torch! The other problem I have heard of is a growing "blotch" on the screen (that some say may be caused by heat or sunlight). | Re: Vision Electronics Display Problems????? You should have a word with AP The only thing I can think of it may be a bad batch of LCD screens. I had a simlar problem with an echo sounder I had. In the summer it was ok but in the winter the screen became very dark. When I contacted the supplier they said that they had a batch that had been suppliied with wrong type of LCD screen (it was somthing to do with the wrong temp rating liquid being used in the screen) They replaced the screen free of charge. This could be the same problem, Hope this helps Regards Mark |

The blotch I was told by AP Valves is from a bad batch of display units and mine is being changed out at no cost to me (other than the long wait for the unit to return). Hope this helps. The other problem I have heard of is a growing "blotch" on the screen (that some say may be caused by heat or sunlight). Who has had to send their unit back to deal with this?

| Annoying fish since 1992 Current Rebreather/s: | Re: Vision Electronics Display Problems????? Got my Vision elecs upgrade in May 06 and it had one of the LCD screens from the dodgy batch. A hot spot (small brown spot) appeared on warm days but disappeared when in the water. But it also showed a dark band along the very bottom of display when I did some 60m to 70m dives last summer (water temp 12 deg C or so). Even with the backlight on the dark banding was there. It made it difficult to read the deco ceiling and time-to-surface numbers. The display returned to normal during ascent. I guess it was pressure related change in the LCD as I couldn't reproduce it by putting the display in a pot of cold water. I contacted it to AP and they replaced the display free of charge. No problems since. |

| Re: Vision Electronics Display Problems????? I thought the screen burn was due to a heat sink behind the display? Could be wrong but thats what I was told |
