Magnets in Inspiration handsets

I remember seeing a post somewhere about the magnets in the Inspiration. Its been a while since I strapped on my trusty yellow sledge and remembered that last time I dived it I had to get a screwdriver onto the magnets to scratch off the rust so the handsets would work. I will replace the magnets (bought new ones from APD) but have never done this before. Also some people have suggested using nail varnish on them to stop them rusting in the future.

Anybody any thoughts / recommendations on this and any idea how to replace them?

The magnents have been an ongoing issue for me. Clear nail polish helps but does not eliminate the problem.
