Travelframe Questions

I'm just working up to ripping, sorry - gently removing, my Vision out of its box and putting it into the Travelframe that Mark Chase so kindly sold me. Before I do, I have two quick questions for those that have trodden that path before me:

I'm going to use stainless bolts to bolt my backplate to it. As the frame is aluminium, do I need to worry about corrosion between the two (I remember that well as a problem with my Landrover)? If so, how can I avoid that - I'm thinking of cutting a bit of innertube to make an ad-hoc washer
What size cam bands do you use? All the ones that I have are long enough to go round at least a 12l cylinder, so will be way more than enough for a 3l

Just goes to show how much I know - I thought they were ali. Having said that, it doesn't look like ali!

Phil AP sell cam bands designed to go round 3ls, if you use normal ones cut down you have to bend the metal half of the buckle to suit the smaller diameter tanks

Top - thanks. I'll try to get hold of some of those. I don't want to remove the ones from my AP box, as I'd like that to remain pristine and complete.

Phil, I use standard AP cambands, and they are way too long. I just stuff the ends in the frame

as I'm too lazy to cut them up. If you want the cam buckle to close properly you will need to bend the steel buckle a bit so that it fits better around the cylinder. I never bothered with mine and I never had a cylinder falling of (yet).

No worries about galvanic corosion, the frame is made out of 1.4404 (316L). Tubing is either 1.4301 (304, first series) of 1.4401 (316, second and third series).

The frame is basically tailored for the inspiration scrubber. As the Evo scrubber is a bit less tall, I advise you to bolt a small piece of plastic on the bottom bar so the scrubber sits a bit higher. A PVC endcap used in plumbing e.g. works fine for that.

Yes its SS not ali. The AP cam bands are 10.85p inc postage and are just the right size for 3ltr tins. That said I used Jube clips on my frame.
