Re: Shearwater - YBOD

Hi phi,

Many thanks for posting your Shearwater Inspo head pictures.
Very neat modification job indeed. Just curious about one thing. Why did you choose the clippard tiny solenoid instead of the usual snap-tite.??
Are they more reliable ?

Thanks
Wei Lan

Sorry for late reply, I am still in the US...

Yes, that is your old custom head with the single handset. I decided to scrap the horizontal back-up unit project, sold the bottom section and convert the lid for the Shearwater conversion.

Solenoid is used because of availability. Time will determine its reliability...

Re: Shearwater - YBOD

Phi,

Whilst u are around/listening I will have to make up 2 adaptors for the KISS valve we spoke of. I will be making a male 9/16" to fit the hole with a 7/16" male fitting to plug into a standard (O2 clean) regulator hose (7/16" UNF). The ease with the 7/16" UNF fitting is that the rotating bezzle locks without twisting the hose. The other end is now drilled and tapped into a T piece.....

All that to ask if you want 2 too??

All credits on installation go directly to Carl @ Sartek. He did a great job (as always)!

Tricky eh ? phi.
FYI, I actually have a handful of these solenoids (stripped from my company decommissioned production machine) mainly 3way and a couple 2way.

I have tested the solenoid to 147psi (sol. rated 100psi max.) and they still click for couple of hours without malfuntioning.

Thanks for sharing the pics,
Cheers
