| Forget the Jan box M8 my new X pack is the way forward ![]() Here’s a sketch of my idea. Any thoughts any one? A: the side arms will have threads in the end as will the top arm (there to fit the weight pouch) This will facilitate the fitting of a cover is so desired to protect the scrubber can B: the slots in the arms will allow mounting of 3 ltr 7ltr or 10ltr tanks on a sliding set of pony brackets to keep the tanks tight against the back plate. The idea is only for two rear mounted tanks I dont need or want more tanks on my back as I prefer side slung stages. The concept is being prototyped in marine grade ali probably bolted together. The final model will be welded construction. I want it to be compact and flexible enough for travel and no heavier than the existing box. ![]() Any and all comments welcome ATB Mark Chase

| How will it stand upright? Don't underestimate how annoying pitching forward can be... ![]() How about slits in the main verical to allow you to cam-band the scrubber in? Likewise, rotate the slots in the arms and you can re-use the cam-bands...

If yes Mark I expect some green Quote: (Originally Posted by Padowan) Just as another thought, Mark, you might want to make the cam-band slots vertical, not horizontal, or are you planning on some cunning side-ways mounted, under the arm tank configuration....? ![]() ![]()

| Mark, Just a couple of things you may want to consider. 1)If you put a bent over piece on the botom, just like on the top, if you make it stick out 6" then you should be able to stop the unit tipping backwards. 2)If you leave the final product so the double plates bolt together (make the holes for the bolts onto the backplate threaded, that way they'll be captive) it'll pack down better for travelling. 3)If you put a tab sticking out on the spine for the botom of the scrubber to sit on, you'll be able to trap a camband between the spine and the wing when you bolt it together, and still hold it securely. (or are you intending for the scrubber lip to be supported on the spine where the plates meet? both may be best) Simon A |

| OK The cam band will go in a slot between the two spine plates. The scrubber will mount on top of the inner spine plate locating by the lip on the scrubber housing. The slots ARE for pony clamps not cam bands. I dont like cam bands on small cylinders like 3ltrs and the single point of contact is not suportave enough to use in that way. Well done the man in malta ![]() The rear plate of the spine will suport the weight of the unit and prevent it resting on the first stages but it will not be stable. Making it so may be too heavy and a big entanglement hazard but ill see after I have tired it out. I had considered individual valve protectors for the 3ltr tanks but it might not be flexable enough acros the design range of tanks 3, 7 & 10ltr. I will be making a moc up out of wood to see how the dimension work. Ill let you know how it goes ![]() Keep the sugestions comming. ATB Mark Chase

| I have a better idea, but it's not ready for unveiling. Unfortunately it doesn't have valve guards on it, so I'll either have to fit 2 separate guards (which I don't want to do, as my tanks have brass neck rings that won't be legible, and also it restricts how easy it would be to change tins) but it will be comedy, I can guarantee that. Oh yes. Photos to come after the weekend. I have a weekend off for fettling, so I'll see what I can do, and also see if I can finally work out how to post a photo on a bloody forum!!! Also, you really can't put a camband around a scrubber like the inspo because it will flex and break when you tighten it. A simple velcro band will keep things from moving about too much, but you're going to want something over the top to protect it anyway, so might as well make it a decent fit! Digs. |

Er...Digger mate, we know that - it's in the Inspo handbook! The band in question is the one inside the YBOD which is used to hold the scrubber. It doesn't have a cam bit for the reasons you pointed out..
