Cracked handsets again

Hi,
I have just bought a classic inspo and am doing my mod 1course at the moment. Having read a the threads about All these cracked handsets I confess I'm more than a little worried I know my unit was back at AP earlier this year for a service so I presume my handsets are fine. It seems beyond credibility that so many units could have suffered cracked handsets. It has to be a design fault and if that is the case surely Ap should be issueing a recall and fixing the problem for free.

I wonder if the freedom of information act could be used to get Ap to release the figures on the exact number of units that have suffered this problem?

Views anyone?

Isn't the FOI Act only for government disclosures? Even if you do manage to find a way to get a request in under FOI, it'll just be denied as it would be commercially sensitive.....

Cheers,

Cheers,
The freedom of infomation act was introduced to allow information held about you by a public body, to be obtained by you. I.e, if your employer is a public body, i.e. the department of health then if they hold any info about you, you are entitled to see a copy of all the info held, in what ever format it is contained for a nominal fee - usually £10. i.e. if you leave your building at a given time one day and are captured on CCTV which is recorded you have a right to obtain a copy. The same applied to all records in any format which are held about you. This allpies only to Public Bodies and not private companies.

You can not use it to obtain information about anyone else. Also you can not use it for force a private company to give up any infomation held about any products which you may have obtained which were originally manufactured by the company.
