Classic cell wiring + scrolling hanset ?

A friend has a classic inspiration with backlit handsets & on cell 3 one of the wires has come out of the connector that plugs on to the cell

,Is this a return to AP job or are the parts available to diy ? Little loath to send it back incase they find the "cracked handset" problem

Also he has backlit handsets & sometimes one handset "scrolls" through the selections ,any ideas ?
I dive a Vision so it is totally different .

The wire that has come off can be fixed yourself by replacing the gold molex connector. I'm sure if you search this site you'll be able to find a guide to take you through it. It really isn't difficult to do.

I'd check to see if you do have water in your handsets that way the handsets and wiring could be fixed at the same time.

If a handset scrolls through selections after set up ready to dive from the p02 display you may have a cracked handset with water inside. I'd remove the black case and see if there is any water inside them. Either way if the electronics isn't showing po2 when it is suppose to be and doing something else I wouldn't dive the unit and send in the head to get it checked out.

Hello,

I done it on my unit and others. What you should do is contact APD and order the gold plated crimps . The biggest problem is to get the right crimping tool. Important to cut wire back unit fresh wire is found. If you solder wire use a low powerone and tale care as with little heat the insulation will shrink back. I advise you to check other connections, depending of how damaged was done, if used pulled from wire and not plug or is a unit older than 1 1/2 year! See pic below as mine copper perished!
