| Hello All. I have ordered an Inspiration Vision, and my wife have ordered an Evolution, and we have also ordered spare cylinders for both CCR's, so that we can do a weekend trip without filling cylinders. We are going to do the Mod 1 course in March. But now I am becoming a little bit unsure about my choice... My reason for choosing the Inspiration is, that I intend to use it for technical diving, when I some day, have got the proper experience with CCR. I already have experience with OC technical diving, but I know, that I have to start from "scratch" again... Most of the diving I am doing, is in the 25-50M range, and once in a year a few dives to 60-75M. But I really like the size of the Evolution... And especially when it comes to travelling by plane... So I am now thinking about changing my order to an Evolution. And I have seen that the maximum depth of the Evolution is the same, as the Inspiration. So the big question is: Is the Evolution "big" enough for technical diving? Or should I just leave my order as it is? Best Regards Michael Jensen |

| Re: Which one to choose? the inspiration has longer duration scrubber which may be a advantage for deep diving, if you travel 3l cylinders are easier to rent, you cant fit 3l's in an evo! if you are quite tall you may find the evo a bit short on your back. you will (in my experience) need to wear more lead on your belt with an evo if you dive off hard boats the evo will not sit on the bench behind you while you are kitting up, you will have to take the weight on your shoulders HTH Dave |

| Re: Which one to choose? hello michael, my wife and i went throgth the same quandry a while back. From what i can tell, with my limited experience (45hrs on an evo), the biggest difference is not the depth rating but the scrubber duration. The evo is fine for deep dives as long as you don't plan on doing really long deco. we routinely get three to four hours from the evo's scrubber even though it has a two hour rating, but that is with doing dives in the 75-130 fsw range. the deeper depths will undoubtedly have you limited more closely to the two hour limit. If two hours is all you need, then it would be a good choice. from what i can tell, the evo would be a bad choice if you were planning on doing a lot of cave diving that might lead you gradually into the realm of very extended lenghts of time in an overhead environment. I would also be caucious getting an evo if you think you are going to be venturing into the realm of deep wreck diving with extended penetration. I will leave it to the cave and deep wreck divers to say more, but i'd think you would want plenty of extra scrubber to safeguard you for unexpected delays in returning to the surface. I'm mostly into diving for checking out the cool critters and an hour and a half to two hour dive is about the max of what i find my appetite is. the smaller size of the evolution is definitely a major plus. I'm 6'3" and even i like the compact feel of it much better than the inspo I tried, it feels a lot more natural on my back and is easier to control. hope that helps.

| Re: Which one to choose? the inspiration has longer duration scrubber which may be a advantage for deep diving, if you have a need for flexibility with tank sizes, one of the travel frames on the market will make that possible. if you travel 3l cylinders are easier to rent, you cant fit 3l's in an evo! if you are quite tall you may find the evo a bit short on your back. you will (in my experience) need to wear more lead on your belt with an evo if you dive off hard boats the evo will not sit on the bench behind you while you are kitting up, you will have to take the weight on your shoulders HTH Dave getting it on while on a boat takes some getting used to, but is something i've adjusted to, even with my bad back...it's a trade off you will have to balance: big, boxy, lots of duration vs compact, less drag but shorter duration and a bit trickier to get on.

| Re: Which one to choose? Michael: I dive both an Inspo Classic and Evolution. I like the size of the Evo. It is comfortable underwater. Its also much lighter and has less drag when swimming. I use both units for recreational and tech diving. With the Inspo you get 6 cubic feet more onboard gas. This is good for deeper/longer duration dives and can help if you have to do a dil flush at depths greater than 50 meters. For bailout at depth, the difference in onboard gas is negligible. Your going to carry the same amount of bailout gas on either unit when tech diving anyway. As for kitting up, I'm 6' tall and have little trouble getting into either unit. I do use a little more lead with my Evo when drysuit diving. In warm water I don't use any lead on either unit except for adjusting my trim. The only thing I really liked better about the Inspo is the longer scrubber duration. It is nice to have that extra sorb on deep cold dives. But, if your dives are in cold European waters, it is unlikely you will be staying down longer than 2 hours at a time anyway. Traveling with the Evo is easier and cheaper. I can get it in on the plane under the usual weight restrictions. Hope this helps. David |

Hello Gill Thankyou very much for your inputs regarding your experience with the Evolution. I think that I will leave my order for the Inspiration Vision as it is. Simply because of the longer scrubber duration. When we dive in Baltic sea during the winter and spring, we often have watertemperatures between 1-8 degrees celsius, and even in the summer, the bottomtemperature can be around 3-6 degrees. And when I some day are ready for CCR gasdiving, the greater duration of the scrubber in the Inspiration, will be an advantage. Best Regards Michael |

David Thanks for informing me about the possibility for doing a diluentflush on greater depths than 50m with the Inspiration. I have not even thought about that... And you are right about the advange in having a bigger scrubber on dives in cold water. So my order on the Inspiration Vision will not be changed... Now I just have to figure out, how to travel with that thing! I have seen that you can buy a water/pressuretight case from PELI Products, and I think that the Peli case 1660 will be perfect for the Inspiration to travel in. Best Regards Michael |

Best Regards Michael A 1660 Peli case is around 10 KGs. Last time I put my Inspiration and Travelframe in a soft bag with lots of bubble wrap. I had my electronics in hand luguage. The bag with my Inspiraton was around 20 KG. The TF is stronger than the plastic box. I wouldn't take the original case in a soft bag. HTH, Peter |

| Re: Which one to choose? [quote=Michael Jensen;74842]Hello All. Hi last time we meet was in July when I did my mod1 with deep blue my evo goes on travel frame when diving out of UK Dived Norway in august You can’t get 3l in a evo box don’t think many operators keep 2l cylinder I’ve put 2 300mm lengths of 75mm square trucking the bottom of the box so breather weight of my back when kiting up (remember the stool)Scrubber run time ! I like the temp stick don’t see the point of buying kit and not trusting it when I start diving they said don’t trust that computer It will kill you Now days its top of the shopping list I have run my scrubber to 4 hours with 25% of black bat still showing the weight of my unit in travel frame less cylinders 17Kg I tell you 12 month time if evo was the right one off to red sea in 2 weeks Ron post be for this opps! |

| Re: Which one to choose? Hello Gill Micheal, for comparison's sake, almost all of our evo diving so far has been in cold water (aprox 6-12 celsius) with the 3-4+ hour duration, 130 fsw max. I'm not sure if there would be much of a difference between 1 and 6 celcius on scrubber duration. so far, to the extent that the temp stick give reliable information, depth more than cold seems to effect scrubber duration. there are folks around here taking the evo into the 200-300 fsw range. Not tryint to convince you to go one way or another, just making sure you have all the numbers you need.Thankyou very much for your inputs regarding your experience with the Evolution. Best Regards Michael also, i would very much recommend doing a pool session with both the evo and inspo before you make your final decition. i was so turned off by the way the inspo felt in the water that i pursuid other brands before comming around to the evo.
