Oxygenefire in firststage

Has anyone experienced a firststage (o2) oxygenefire in their Inspo classic or heard of anyone who has?

Re: Oxygenefire in firststage

i dont know about first stage fires but i guess this is the most likley,
but there has been a few in the past couple of years notable one that burn the boat to the water line with every one going over board, cant find it for you but im shore some one will have the link for you.
my friend jason(zepp)on these boards had an o2 fire a few months from his tank valve which sent his breather scooting about the deck!!
kind regards john routley

Ouch, did it happen when you first pressurised the reg?

Had the hose/reg been used with gases other than O2?

Is there any history behind this like the reg just being serviced?

Re: Oxygenefire in firststage

It's my understanding that many CCR O2 fires originante in the tank valve and that this probably has something to do with the valve being opened too fast and some friction coming from the metal valve parts...

Any other scenerios anyone can think of?

Re: Oxygenefire in firststage

I saw a 13cf cylinder that Joe Dituri had that combusted while filling with O2, blew the valve right out and gave him a bit of a burn. top side of the cylinder was split and blackened. looked to see if I could find the Pic I took of it but no joy.

Scary pictures!

I understand you had to replace all the hoses on the O2-side, but could you re-use the manifold, firststage etc?
