rear lungs

hi everyone.
been testing my rear lungs, work a treat ,dont know why i didnt do it sooner.incorperated mine into a wing with manual injects on the waistband of the harness, very unobtrusive.only went to 40m and didnt notice any difference in wob.still need to test deeper.diving is so much easier with unclutered chest area. will be putting pictures here in the weekend showing how i did it if any one is interested in going the same way. very easy and not expensive, took me 2.5 hours to disasemble change and reasemble my unit.although it did take me 25 hours to figure out how to do it

Re: rear lungs

Wanted to convert my INSPO to rear mounted just for the easz of it.
Technicaly it's not difficult, the hardest part is to cut up your original kit to do it.
I decided not to do that, but to buy the parts i needed to enable me to revert back to the original if nessasary.
Here is what came up with:

I used an Inspiration wing 22.5 kg. In place of the dil and Ox feeds i used 2 AP valves jacket inflation elbows with a corrigated hose onto a normal jacket inflator.
The low pressure hoses run down between the lung and wingand i mounted them on the inspiration harness under the weight pockets ( see pics ).
This makes them very accessible and easy to operate and out of the way.
The T pieces fit in to the holes where the dump valve and inflation valve were on the wing.
The only extra hole i had to make in the wing was for the overpressure valve.
The T pieces to canister hoses i shortend by 10cm and i raised the height of the wing on the back plate by 5 cm.
Now the 2 infaltors can be used to dump air from the lungs or to empty water from the lungs when being cleaned.
Some CCR divers choose to eliminate the manual dil if they have an ADV, so the dil inflator could be left off, leaving only the O2 inflator.
An other possibility is to use the dil inflator with an offboard gas attached shutting down the ADV when it is required.

Here are a number of pics to make it easier to see how it was done.

All parts are standard parts from AP, except the inflaters for which i used SeaSub because they are very compact and easy to use. >I am very happy with the result.
The whole job can be done quite cheaply and is very easy to do.

If you have any questions i'll be happy to answer.

Michael

Re: rear lungs

Nice,
But, I'm missunderstanding something. You have both t's plumbed into the same wing? I know that can't be.

How is the loop routed. Exhale to wing to Scrubber to wing to inhale? Is the wing a dual wing?

Re: rear lungs

I think you will find that what michael has not made clear is that he has removed the original wing bladder and put the inspo cl bags inside .at least I hope he has !
If so then there is nothing new to this idea as Dave Thompson did it this way a long time ago & has progressed a long way since

or he made two bladders of the original by welding a seam in the middle, on the upper part and the lower part

hello belgium, very nice!
question: w've been thinking to make a BOB this way on the rEvo, so now: what happens when you inflate your wing a lot: does this not limit the expansion of your counterlung??
regards
paul .. from belgium
