Reg recommendations for bailout ??

inspo classic

Wot are you guys using for bailout regs.

I was thinking of adding one to the O2 onboard and have heard of people using TX40s, xdeco or cyklons, but i thought the Cyklons ran at a higher interstage pressure ??? so wouldn't that mess about with the original Apeks first stage

wot about off-board bailout regs. I am currently using MK2s/R380s which seem to be doing the job ok at the moment for air and 75% on 3s or 5s mouted on the box, but any suggestions ??

I was thinking of adding an extra autoair hose on the bailout tins which could be plumbed straight into the autoair, but was also thinking that if the brown stuff hit the turbine i might not have time to find the off-board hose and swap them over

any ideas

cheers

If you're diving saltwater, a cyklon makes a bad idea for a bailout.

The inner carriage assembly/poppet for the 2nd stage seat is VERY prone to salt water corrosion, unless you're obsessive about your fresh water rinses after each dive.

The ATX series are nice, small and simple.

Yeah I was thinking of an ATX100 after reading the WR1 report where Pascal used them on open circuit to 330m !!

Re: Reg recommendations for bailout ??

On my inspo I uses 2 offboard tanks 4l
one is diluent calculated on your MOD (but most of the time 21%) and this is fitted with a scubapro G250 on a mkII
the other is O2 at 89% and this is fitted with a aqualong 2nd stage on a posseidon 1st stage
advantage is the amount of bailout and I hardly have to carry extra weights
They are side mounted with the metal-sub adapters

I have 3x ATX50's as bailout regs, 1x onboard and 2x offboard. I like them as they're really simple and easy to maintanance.

I use Apeks ATX50/DST for everything except 100% O2 where I use an OMS "workhorse reg" that's also used as part of the non-rebreather mask in my O2 surface safety kit.
I'm pretty happy about that set up.
Best

Go with the ATX200's for second stage. DS4 for first. Have half a dozen of these and never had probs with them.

Re: Reg recommendations for bailout ??

For onboard O2 I use a Apeks TX 40
For bail out reg I use a mix of Mares MR 22 1. stage/abyss second stage and Apeks TX 40.

I trust my Mares 100 %, - and the Apeks 98 %

Only mickey mouse divers have 2nd stages coming off their small onboard O2s.

Its not a good idea. Adds risk/additional failure.

Just carry sensible off board bail out gas. Keep Rebreather gas and bail gas seperate.
