| Re: Classic handsets Hi Mark, have you recently removed the handset covers? The magnets may not be aligning correctly to switch it on, give them a check. Also check the contacts in the battery box. After that I'm at a loss It has not been bashed has it? Ivon |

Press it in repeatedly and wiggle it. If it sparks up momentarily then the battery connections are knackered. Take out the battery box and re-solder the wires on the back bit. Job sorted.

| Dive porn pimp ![]() ![]() Current Rebreather/s: | Re: Classic handsets To be honest, the Classic handsets suffer few problems on any frequency. Dont let the evil empire know I said this but I do have a soft spot for the classic controllers. They are not a dumb "bang-bang" controller and easy to use and maintain. Especially if you have fairly large testicles and are prepared to get out the soldering iron inside the handset area. The problems usually encountered are; Dying backlighting - No cure I'm afraid, only a replacement module at £168. Not worth it for just backlighting. Battery terminals - Just need cleaning and sometimes re-soldering. No need to even send it in. Molex connectors AKA "The black death" - copper oxides forming on the cable terminals and on the cell terminals. They just need either cleaning or re-terminating. I wouldnt send it in for this either, DIY jobs. Dodgy power switch - Bad one this one. When the V3 switches go, they need some intricate attention. Not an easy fix because of the proximity of the potted parts and the way it is assembled but possible to DIY if your a clever clogs. Cracked handsets - The handset is fooked. New module and new housing. Bummer, cost as above plus anything else you will need as a result of seawater in the loom. hope that puts you at ease!!!! Brent
