| First time travelling with my unit Hi all, In about 4 weeks time I am off on a liveaboard to the Red Sea (Hurricane) for a week out of Marsa (flying with Excel). This will be my first time travelling with the unit so am after some advice: ~ Am planning on booking some extra baggage (am allowed 30Kg), another 10Kg be enough? ~ Am taking the unit in the box and was planning to bubblewrap the handsets and scrubber, put some padding in the bottom of the box and stuff odds and sods like wetsuit gets in the gaps to prevent any movement/breakage. Sound about right? ~ Spares - everything or just bare essentials? ~ Anything else? Have got some useful info from this thread. Anything to add (especially if specific to Red Sea or flying with Excel)? ~ Cleaning the thing - do you bother taking buddy-clean (or whatever) on trips like this or just let it dry each night and give it a good cleaning when you get home? Many thanks Paul |

For example, I have a Meg and thought I'd use the main body to hold pieces since the head is in my carry on bag. Well, putting a canister light inside is not a good idea since it makes a very interesting picture on the x-ray machine, so I was told when I was asked to come to baggage after boarding the plane.

| Re: First time travelling with my unit 40Kg may not cover it! Inspo in the crate, no cylinders & head carried hand luggage was 26Kg then clothes + wetsuit + bits in a sperate bag came to less than 14kg. My hand luggage was a 5Kg. I guess take less clothes ![]() Flight was with Brittania, had 25Kg allowance with 5kg hand luggage + I purchased the 15Kg waterspots package . JT |
