| Fingers crossed..... ![]() ![]() Current Rebreather/s: | Ultralight Inspiration Hi ![]() Just to let you know that Gabriele Paparo aka gabrielesub has written another great article for the Rebreatherworld library on his modifications to the Inspiration to enable better traveling and less expense on baggage handling ![]() The article on the Ultralight Inspiration can be found HERE Please use this thread for feedback, comments or questions you may have and the article can be used to leave reputation ![]() Beanie and I took a similar approach when we were out in the Red Sea earlier this year, with a travel-chasis designed for the journey by Beanie and Padowan Nice and lightweight just a little scary in overhead environments ![]() ![]() Once again thanks to Gabriele ![]() Cheers Miss Lou

| Consent Issued! ![]() Current Rebreather/s: | Re: Ultralight Inspiration Nice report, with some good ideas. However, Aluminium / Titanium regs for O2 service? And the strap around the scrubber appears to be a tank strap. They are wonderfull for tanks, they don't crush or distort, but if you overtighten the strap on the scrubber you could distort the housing, preventing the sofnolime holder within the housing from moving up and down. Or worse, letting it move down if you bump the unit, perhaps while putting it on, and then not letting the springs move it back up against the O ring that prevents CO2 bypass. If you look at the picture in Lou's post, she has used the original velcro fastened strap. This is the correct method and the only one I would use. Either of these items could give you a bad day........ Last edited by PeteS : 8th August 2006 at 06:17. |

Coming from you I'll show you the travel chasis at the weekend. Next time I go travelling the unit will be lighter, will change the standard harness to an ali backplate that saves another kilo.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: Ultralight Inspiration Good article Gabriele, I played with the idea of minimising kit and maximise options. I used a CD backplate as it has all the required cam band slots pre-formed and configured a lot like OC diving. Having the cylinder valves up one can use normal scuba regs (rather than carrying them extra in case the Rebreather goes wrong) and leave the (heavy) manifold at home. This also enables good trim (heavy valves = no extra weight on top) and the unit can sit on the cylinders (no base = less bulk to pack). This made it flexible and lighter still. If the Rebreather failed to work then the scrubber, loop and lungs could be removed in favour of larger cylinders for OC diving - the basic kit stayed the same. It's quite fun but... maybe I should get out more? Cheers Paul

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | aluminum or titanium regulator for O2 side Two others mentioned their concern about Gabriele' using aluminum or titanium first stages. With reports like this, I would be mighty concerned. May I ask what make and model of first stages were used? Am very curious.... |
