| RBW Member Current Rebreather/s: | Got my YBOD yesterday! Not impressed. Hi all Well I finally got my YBOD yesterday and I must say I was not all that impressed. It was not the Inspiration I should say but the condition it is in. Unfortunatly, the person I bought it from is a cave diver and the unit looks like its been to hell and back. He assures me that all the important parts are in excellant working condition. Maybe I expected to much after all I bought used. Scott |

| I have a friend who has dived a lot in caves with the YBOD. You can definetely see it from the back case. The case looks ugly, but the maschine works fine. You don`t need to worry if the casing is scratched. All the important stuff (except the handsets) are inside. I would be more worried if the handsets look like they have been banged to rocks or something. JH Finland |

Ive seen some very funky carbon fibre YBOD/BBOD cases at various UK dive sites. Andy |

| RBW Member Current Rebreather/s: | Well I've almost completed my Inspiration couse and I have to say diving a E-CCR is not comparible to diving a KISS style Rebreather. I love it! Haven't had any problems at all. I can go for the unit totally disassembled to in the water in about 20 mins. Other then the scratches on the outside the unit performs better then expected. I can really see how accidents happen because it is all to easy to do something really stupid. Mods I'll make are: 1. Remove stock BCD and add BP and wing; 2. Possibly HH electronics (still too new on unit to make that decision); and 3. Make my own case that is more compact and lighter. I know, I know should have bought a Meg. Would have loved to, but with the unit and the training combined it was out of my price range. Not to mention if I got hit with duty trying to bring it across the border. Scott |

| Hey Scott, I don't think you 'should' have - Rebreathers are a tool and the Inspiration is a good one, every unit has its pros and cons, not least of which is availability, price and ease of getting training on it! I think you will be more than happy with your Inspy - 100s of others are!! Stuart |

| Insp I think you are going to be extremely happy with your new Insp. They are fantastic units. Now you mention going to the Hammerhead electronics. Have you looked into upgrading to the new Vision Electronics? SDS does give a trade-in credit for the current handsets. It will be slightly more than the HH, but they are excellent. And the fact that you can get the scrubber monitor is even better. If you have any specifc questions or want to know more about the Vision, let me know. We are waiting for several new electronic systems for our Inspirations, and I am personally waiting for my Evo. Once I got my hands on the new electronics, I knew I had to have them. The fact that with the scrubber monitor you get double the time on your scrubber, it makes it all worth it. Now my Prism buddies cant give me &*%$ about their long scrubber life and my 3 hour scrubber life!! Im almost right there with them. Mike

We discussed that in Helen's 'leckies' thread. There are pros and cons to either, I for one think the HH is a better electronics package with a better layout. How much money do you get for the trade-ins?Quote: The fact that with the scrubber monitor you get double the time on your scrubber, it makes it all worth it. Just remember, whatever factors extend the time on your rig will extend the time on their rigs, too. No matter how your twist or turn it, a 2kg axial design with an uninsulated pipe routing gas into the scrubber will not last as long as a 2.7 kg radial design that routes the gas in at the warmest point.Quote: Im almost right there with them. | *grins* unit pride don't you love it! You boys just argue the toss when I slip my CIS Lunar scrubber in soon ![]() Stuart PS serious question - how much of a trade in do they offer - as that could be really compelling to upgrade to em IMHO. |
