| New Member Current Rebreather/s: | What have you done to your YBOD ? After reading a thread in the Meg sections and they have a good thread on changes they have made on there units. All I have done so far is put on a Diverite pocket at the front..... apart from that and a Drysuit hose, my baby is stock .... I thought this would be a good way to work out what people are doing so we can pinch ideas! |

| Re: What have you done to your YBOD ? Quote: What have you done to your YBOD ? The minor mods i have done to my vision inspo are:- 1# Fitted neoprene loop covers 2# fitted an O2 second stage with flow stop to 02 side of manifold (reg bungied under chin with flow stop) If i have a to go OC for deco it gives me at least 15-20m more deco gas at 6m. (along with my deep bailout and 50% stage) 3# Removed intergrated wieghts pockets from harness and replaced with billy rings for hanging stages. 4# moved hoses from outside of the lungs to the inside (SPG's & inflaters) 5# 1.5 argon filled with air for suit inflation, bolted to the dil side of the case. i also have my torch canister bolted to the O2 side of the case, but i dont class this as a unit mod. For dives deeper than 60m I am toying with adding a 3lt of O2 on this side instead and having it plumbed directly into the man-lung inflator. And will then put the torch canister (greenforce FII) in the wing pouch. Thats about it, the rest of the unit is bob on and does what it says on the tin. | Re: What have you done to your YBOD ? Put SS backplate with continious webbing on. Put Scubapro RecTek wing on (it's a DiveRite RecWing really) Standard DiveRite inflator on, but I may go to the 12 or 6 inch length hose in the near future. Shortened the HP hoses and clipped SPG's of on the waist D-ring, kinda DIR-style, as I don't like too much coming over my shoulders. I belive they are the 95 cm type now. 1,5L ali suit inflation bottle in bungee cord on the left side. Attached to the backplate. 13 amh Metalsub canister on the right, held between the wing and case by really tight bungee cords. Shortened the loop hoses with 8-9 cm per side. Put GolemGear BOV on and are supplying it from my 7L bailout tank. I have crossed the handsets, to shorten the hose length. Makes them sit nice and close to your body. They are clipped on by bolt snaps (in a length of bungee cord) to the counterlung D-ring. I use two 1,5kg shot weights behind each counterlung, to give a better balance and trim. And that means that I will only be using very little weight in the pouch on top of the case. From 0,75kg to 3kg depending on how many stagetanks I'm diving with. Now the only thing that really annoys me, is how fragile the handset casings are. I had to get new handsets less than a year ago. Cost a small fortune. And the electronics are currently by APD again to do the very same operation. So I asked for help here on RBW and Mdeamon picked up on the idea to make something that would keep the housings from cracking and ruining the electronics. Possibly entirely new housings. So that is the next modification. |

I still haven't come up with a satisfactory solution to clipping stages at the chest. The rings like to play hide. I bought some that would be fine on a webbing harness but we'll put that down as a work in progress.

| Re: What have you done to your YBOD ? I have done a few mods to mine but still work in progress; Added a 1.5L Argon cylinder on the left of the box. Added a 1.5L of O2 on the right with a hose routed under the arm and along the counter lung in the O2 manual addition slot. Moved Dil and O2 hoses and SPG's to the inside, reduces chances of popping out while wrecking. Added an APD gas system, comprises of 2 female hoses to both the Dil and 02 and a male hose connected to the Dil. This hose is connected to an O2 Apeks ATX 40 with a swivel on it. On the Dil hose there is a blue ball with a hole drilled and threaded on for identification under water, it is also slightly longer for the same reason. This means I can take sanity breaths before deciding on a full bailout and can also utilise the extra 3L of O2 at 6m. I have added a Custom Divers lift bar for RIB diving and also an APD front pocket. I have an OMS line cutter on my right hip and a lift bag tucked into the emergency bottle pocket and clipped off. My JMD torch is mounted against my butt to the box, this is released via a pin, very effective. I have shortened the wing inflator hose and fitted an OEM power inflator, if any one wants a power inflator for £20 + P&P new PM me, I have several. The electronics in the unit have been upgraded to the new loom. In the near future I plan to replace the wing and add a means of adding external Dil to the manifold via a GCS system and possibly a HUD. Ivon |
