| Info Wanted on battery bounce etc hi all have done a search but obviously cannot find anything, what i am after is info on the earlier (3 to 4 year old models) inspo classic where people have had probs with what was called battery bounce unit switching off when diving into water etc i know when i did my course our instructer mentioned this and suggested that we put a piece of card into battery compartment to stop this happening which i did and as result no probs for almost 4 years while using my classic. i also want info on possible corrosion of the battery leads and terminals causing intermittent readings, any info would be most appreciated cheers alby scubakitmarket |

That's it.I was taught that too (Dave Crockford). So I did it religiously until I dropped the bit of card in the wet and couldn't bother to replace it. Then, several uneventful dives later, I backward rolled off a much higher sided boat than usual and swam to the shot. "Down" "OK" signals my buddy who is already there, quick glance at the hand set and... and... why is it blank? Fumble Fumble the slave says MASTER. Fumble fumble, slide... both going now. WAITING FOR... 0.7 0.7 0.7 OK I'll buy that. "Down" "OK" Could they both have gone off? Probably. I'm a neurotic handset checker, I'm sure I would have caught it. But it's still one of those things that worries me when I can't sleep at night.

| Re: Info Wanted on battery bounce etc I use a piece of zinc oxide tape (like sticking plaster) wrapped round each battery. This gives enough friction so that the battery won't move - and zinc oxide is waterproof too. The only time I have had battery bounce was after a pre-dive replacement. No tape...

Then making the batteries more prone to bounce. The only problem is that the pins dull (must be some kind of oxidisation) easily cleaned with a rubber (erasor )If you worried about it get the new battery box - comes with coil spring terminals.
