| Hotspot on Vision Electronics Hi all We have a new vision on an evolution that has developed quite a large hotspot on the handset. I am quite sure it is not been caused sunlight as its not been exposed to any. Has anyone else experienced this with the vision electronics or could anyone shed any light on what may cause this. Thanks

| Re: Hotspot on Vision Electronics Its a common problem but most have agreed that they had the unit in sunlight at some point, like when it was strapped to the back of the dive boat for example Designing something for the big bad outside world and having it sensitive to sunlight is errrrrr.. very odd.ATB Mark Chase

| Re: Hotspot on Vision Electronics I thought I'd read somewhere that this was caused by a heatsink comming away from one of the CPU's in the handset. Could be talking cr@p, but I'm sure I saw something about it on RBW. Could have seen it anywhere on one of my trawls through the internet. Best action is to contact AP & ask them about it. James. |

Ahhhhh that'll be a cracked hand set then ![]() Whops sorry wrong AP unit. Seriously though, its very interesting you say that. The three people I know who had the problem ended up convinced by AP it was a sunlight issue. So if its somthing else, I bet they would like to know. ATB Mark Chase

| Annoying fish since 1992 Current Rebreather/s: | Re: Hotspot on Vision Electronics I got my Vision electronics upgrade a couple of weeks ago in the midst of unusually warm weather ... for Ireland that is. I had my gear in the trunk of my car while at work on a Friday before I headed off for the weekend. Although the handset was not in direct sunlight the slight brown spot formed in the LCD screen. The inside of the trunk would have been approx. 30 to 40 deg C perhaps. I queried AP and was told the spot would disappear when the ambient temperature dropped. And it did. It did not reappear all weekend although the ambient temperature was in the low 20s C. I guess if you live in the tropics the brown spot could appear rather often. | Re: Hotspot on Vision Electronics I have used my vision at home and abroad in Egypt, and have never had this problem. The only thing that i have noticed is that on deep dives when there is a big diff from surface temp to depth temp the background of the LCD goes a bit darker (like when you turn the contrast up). We did a dive 2 weeks ago in dorry. The surface temp was 14'c and at 70m it was 5'c and i noticed the screen being as if the contast had been turned up to max darkness. As soon as we got back up into warmer water 10'c ish it returned back to normal. Nothing to worry about just the l-crystal reacting to big temp diffrences. ATB Gareth |

| Since my last post I have just spoken to AP service department .They are re potting a new screen on my handset as we speak so they are ringing me before dinner tomorrow . Apparently there are NO heat sinks in the handset & it is a component on the board heating up that causes this how the hell it heats up when it's switched of I dont know ? maybe that explains some peoples flat batteries ? (sorry Mark couldn't resist even though it's the wrong unit )So they have changed the "Gel " ??? which sounds like a get around the problem rather than fixing it .next installment tomorrow ![]()
