| Re: Removing hose fittings Ok i am not sure what i am doing wrong here. John,Are you holding the broom indirectly (inside the hose) by holding the hose directly ? In another word, you hold the hose and broom really tight while try to un-rotate the small ring to release the connection. |

| Re: Removing hose fittings Hi guys, You should try quick and fast twists on the outer nut, otherwise the split inside parts will turn with the outer nut.Ok i am not sure what i am doing wrong here. I have a Evo and i have inserted a broom handle into the end of the hose, it holds the inside nicely. I then can turn the outter collor, but it just keeps turning and turning without coming lose. I have checked to make sure the broom stick is holding the inside from rotating. Cheers John |

| Re: Removing hose fittings Hmmm, i have inserted the broom handle inside. Well mine is actually a floor sweeper type thing and it fits inside the hose nicely with fittings to hold the two stud type things inside the hose. I just hold the broom handle tightly and i try to turn the outter ring, it just keeps turning around without coming lose... ![]() |

I just hold the broom handle tightly and i try to turn the outter ring, it just keeps turning around without coming lose... How you are using the broom is similar to inserting a standard tool to hold the 2 studs in place.![]() Unfortunately, after prolonged use, the hose is stuck to the 2 split rings underneath the small outer ring. And just rotating as 1 piece (hose, 2 split rings and small outer ring). So follow what I wrote, find a smaller diameter broom stick, insert it past the 2 studs so you could hold the handle by gripping the hose to keep it steady like shown in the picture by Blomman (who first posted this technique) Then use a quick snapping motion to unscrew the small outer ring that is on top of the 2 split rings. Good luck, be patient as it is one of the most frustrating thing to do on the YBOD - removing old hose connection... ![]() Last edited by decoweenie : 25th November 2007 at 08:44. |

| Re: Removing hose fittings Here are some instructions for getting the ends off, even when they spin round. >>> Hose Removal Use the technique with the snoopy loop along with your broomstick and all will be well. I've got it down so I can mostly do it with just a snoopy loop now, unless the threads are hopelessly filled with grit - then I use whatever to lock the lugs. I use grease on them before reassembly and it makes it easier next time. I don't think AP have got enough praise for these hose connectors - amazingly robust and versatile.

| Re: Removing hose fittings Thanks for the tips guys, did as shown in your link Mdemon did the trick. Some are still a little more stuborn than others, but with some fast twisting and cursing they finally came lose.
