Problems with APD Communicator Software

I'm getting the message (Device not recognised, usb has malfunctioned) so I'm not even sure if the cable adaptor is working. Apparently, you should use the most uptodate version of the apd comm.

Any luck?

Have tried to email Nicky few times to get the newer version of the communicator and some help to get this sorted, but havent had any luck getting an answer.

I had a two fold problem in that My usb to serial cable had malfunctioned and my new laptop is a Dell! My downloading problem has been solved by altering the bios settings on my laptop. I have to disable multicore processing in order for it to work. It's a bore as I have to alter the settings on start up each time, but it's better than not being able to do it at all. JPT mentions this as a solution earlier in this thread.

I'm no expert, but it sounds to me like your usb port is not seeing the cable driver. You can load it on to the pc from the original disc or get Vista to source it from the internet.

Finally, I never bother emailing AP but just get on the phone. That way, they seem to respond really well. I appreciate that this is a more expensive option for you but if you are tearing your hair out it might be the best thing to do.

If you send me a PM I'll forward the latest version of the communicator to you.

I downloaded the new version of the communicator but it still doesn't work. now it gets all the way to 18-21% download untill it looses connection.

I'm running fujitsu siemens with dual core. Maybe I should try to alter the bios aswell... all I have to do now is figure out what that means

On my Dell, you hit F12 to get into the boot menu. Choose bios settings and then "Performance". It then gives me the option to "disable multicore processing" which does the trick. BTW, if you had purchased a Sony Viao or a Samsung, you wouldn't be having these problems, so where does the fault lie? With the software itself or with the laptop manufacturer? Frankly, I've no idea.

Got it working

it wasn't laptop or the software... although new version of the communicator might have helpt also

there was some corrosion in the connector and after scraping that of it started working...

John Got it working it wasn't laptop or the software... although new version of the communicator might have helpt also there was some corrosion in the connector and after scraping that of it started working...
