Re: Problems with APD Communicator Software I'm having the same problems with the USB. Can't upload or download. Because my computer was manufactured in this century, I don't have a serial port. WTF?? Come on AP enter the 20th century!!! I'll try another serial to USB connector and let you know what happens. ![]()

Re: Problems with APD Communicator Software I had similar problems - dont forget to turn on the handset - they will say something like "PC Link" in the display. No joy for me with them off.

Re: Problems with APD Communicator Software Oh - and I had to use a serial port, I did not get the USB to work. I had to hook up a USB to serial converter.

Got mine working thanks to JPTaylor9. I changed the compatability mode under the APD Communicator program to Windows 98/ME (I run XP). I used the USB on my pc and now it works fine. Thanks JP

Finally got around to fiddling with the settings on my laptop to change it to Win 98 compatibility and hey presto it worked. I have yet to upload an update but downloading the latest log files tonight worked a treat. Thanks JP You have just got to love it when good info solves a problem. Rebreather World does it again. Thanks. ![]()

Re: Problems with APD Communicator Software I have to do this for our software in my day job. You have to tell the computer that it has to be on the com port you want and not the one Windows assigns. To change it (force it) follow the directions below. Control Panel, System, Hardware, Devise Manager. Find the devise double click, Port settings, Advanced. Change the port to com 1. Answer you know exactly what you’re doing. Ha remember what you did so if it gets ugly you can undo it! Re-boot and away you go. At least for Windows guys.

| Earning the green stuff.. Current Rebreather/s: | Re: Problems with APD Communicator Software Here are a few ideas I have on this. 1) if you think it is a power issue, has anyone tried connecting to a powered USB hub? That is, get a multi port USB hub that has a power supply that plugs into it. That will give the spec'ed USB power to the appliance and not rely on the PC. 2) Is it possible that there are issue with USB v1.1 and v2 devices? PC's with v2 should be backward compatible with v1.1 devices but a v2 device may not work with a v1.1 PC. Most new PC designs have v2.0 but a new PC does not = new design. 3) A final option that I gave to a friend having issue is to buy a $25 usb to com port dongle. It basically puts a com port on a pc that only has usb ports. Pretty handy for all the other devices you have that only does com port connections since new laptops are more likely to have a printer port than a com port. Hope some of this helps. |

Re: Problems with APD Communicator Software Just got my new unit the other day, and after the first couple of dives tried to load the AP Communictor software on my PC and it locked it up, hard to do a reset. Not got serial port on PC so loaded it up on my laptop. Doesn't lock up but also doesn't work either. Do you have to change any of the baud settings on it, what should it be on? John
