Re: Problems with APD Communicator Software

"After uninstalling & reinstalling the USB/Serial drivers I've finally got ADPComm to see COM4. Able to resync time, but now getting:

"Downloading Data Failed" "

Had the same issue and tried all different USB ports on my Dell desktop. Eventually gave up and settled for a serial port connection which worked perfectly. Something ironic in that. Bought the latest high tech rebreather and AP don't make a USB direct connect cable, relying on a technolgy which is now 20 something years old!

Anyone have any issues with the latest update we should know about?

Re: Problems with APD Communicator Software

I know this helps very little, but I got my vision working on my Mac using VPC version 7 using Win2k!

Good luck with your problem, I would look at power issues like others have recommended!

Jon

I had a problem setting up my Vision download system but a call to AP got it sorted.

There's plenty of help available from AP just a phone call away!

Re: Problems with APD Communicator Software

Guys,

I spent a good portion of yesterday trying to get the AP Communicator to work to no avail. I have a Mac superdrive laptop with virtual PC 7 (XP) and everything is good and recognized up to the point where the upload/download buttons are supposed to turn color. I have sent Silent diving a query and they are going to try and help.

Any ideas would be appreciated and I have purchased a Belkin USB to serial adaptor and threw the other crap away.

Hyperthreading on p4s cause problems on alot of communications software that doesnt properly deal with the possibility of out of order execution. Disabling hyperthreading forces all instructions to be executed in order..

The equivalent function on AMD processors doesnt seem to exhibit this problem.

Wire everything up. Go to usb settings button at lower left. Select COM2 port at right of settings window. Select Mac serial port radio button on right. Select your belkin USB to serial device from the pull down window underneath the Mac serial port radio button. Wait a few seconds for recognition of the device by the software (wait till yellow light at lower left of Windows window clears). Startup APD Communicator (grey breather symbols). Go to Settings button at left. Select COM2 port radio button at upper left then toggle OK at lower left. Turn on Vision (PC link and shortly after your greys should turn yellow).

You should be good for download/upload/clock sync at this point.

Re: Problems with APD Communicator Software

I got it working fine on my Compaq Presario notebook the first time no problem. It runs an AMD 64bit processor. I was doing my training on the weekend, and in the installation, my instructor said to make sure not to allow windows to do the driver install, but to use the supplied CD - otherwise there would be problems. Once installed, machine rebooted, uploaded the latest version of the communicator software, and it all was good.

Re: Problems with APD Communicator Software

After trying several more reccomendatoins from Silent Diving I used my PC at work and it was fine first time(it has a 30 year old serial port). I think its really lame that a cutting edge CCR like the Evo uses 30 year old technology for software and hope that eventually a software/hardwate upgrade is offered.

I love the Evo though and thanks for the help!

Re: Problems with APD Communicator Software

Rusty,
Go into the settings of your VPC List. As Bill mentioned go down to Com 2 Port on the Settings for Windows XP list. When the com 2 port settings comes up hit the Mac serial port button and select usbserial0. Then select advanced settings and "DTR tracks RTS". Hit 'OK' Start up AP Communicator with Comm 2 selected in the settings. This has worked for me. I hope you have the same luck.
