Thumbs up feedback on new HH

I was one of the lucky ones to receive a Hammerhead last November. It was the nickel plated version. The unit had the following problems: severe corrosion, went through batteries extremely quickly because they stayed active all the time and incorrect depth because of blocked transducer holes. Two weeks ago I received the new version. The body of the handsets is now alu anodized with a teflon coating. The bezel was changed from aluminium to stainless steel and it has more rounded corners.

I'm happy to report that ALL the above problems are gone. We extensively tested the HH on a weeklong trip in Egypt. After the dive I rinsed the handsets with fresh water and wiped them with a towel. Within two minutes the handsets switched off automatically. I ran the primary on a 3.6 V AA battery. It is still working after 17 hours of operation. I used rechargeable 1.2 V batteries for the secondary. I swapped those after around 6 hours. And no corrosion so far.

Great job Kevin. I'm a happy customer again.

Re: feedback on new HH

I received mynew HH (Upgrade) on Friday and dove it over the weekend.

Kevin has really made some improvements to the orginal. I really like the new handsets and the battery life SEEMS to be better than the old handsets were.

I will have some time over the next two weeks to really test it and see if that is the case.

The PIN number thing is interesting and I am not pro or con on that (there is after all another thread on that subject).

I do like the NO BS-O-Meter.

I do not see a lot of use for the stack timer (I guess for scrubber duration, if I can remember to reset it). as I get used to having it I may discover some other uese for it and chnage my mind (after all 5 hours is not much time to really try all the features etc).

Now that I have the unit, I must say the Joe R did a good job on the "draft" manual. Once I had the handsets, the manual makes sense and the flow is good for setup and operations etc.

Dive Safe...

Re: feedback on new HH

Picked up my "refurbished" HH handsets" at BTS.
YES, they were the ones on the table in the DR booth.
Kevin did a great job on the new finish and the corners.
Using in fresh "cold" H20 only for now, but the salty stuff will come in June.
They look great.
Joe did an excellent work on the new owner manual.
Thanks guys,

Cornel

Hi Steffen, suggest that you either call Kevin Juergensen @ (814) 395-9509 or Email him @ kevin@rebreather.us
I think it would be best if you got information directly from him.
I have had excellent service from Kevin.

did you replace the bezels yet?? a blocked transducer hole will do exactly as you see, since it tries to set sea level when the unit is taken out of sleep mode but not wet.. I suggest even on the ss handsets to wipe some silicon lube across the pressure xducer hole (not force it in) this will keep any foreign matter (like sand) from getting in the transducer..

If you havent replaced the bezels contact Kevin to get them or contact him to send the unit in..

replacing the bezels is quite easy..
