| VR£ 4th cell holder tweak - no drilling required... (My memory tells me this has been done before, but I couldn't find it on the net so have posted it anyway.) My Delta-P VR£ 4th cell holders haven't been quite as good as I'd hoped. The cell is always out compared with the main three cells, and starts to drift further at the end of long dives. Having tried both the Y-shaped and the shoulder-mounted 4th cell holder, I didn't fancy spending yet more money getting this right. So I am now trying to remote the cell to put it as close to the other three as possible. I bought a PC fan extension for a few quid. In fact, I bought two - a long and a short (75cm and 30cm). Testing this dry, with VR£ and a meter showed that the extension made no difference to the voltage. I fitted the cell using two zip ties and an o-ring. The o-ring gives flexibility in case the cell gets moved into the wrong place. Rather than jam against the other cell and potentially jamming the cannister (allowing the main o-ring to flop about and let CO2 past), it will slide down the side of the fixed cells - and should still read fairly well. ![]() I have yet to get this wet, so will post results after the next dive.
