| Made in England. Current Rebreather/s: | Leaky ADV. I've got a leaky ADV..... When trying a neg test, air leaks in from the ADV as i suck out the air, in both the open and shut position, the weird thing is it doesn't leak when under preasure, i striped it cleaned and greased it, put it back together, and it still leaks. Another strange thing is that if i unscrew the nut that holds it to the 'T', it doesn't leak, when i bolt it down it leaks again?????Any ideas..... i 'thought' i was going diving tommorow. ![]()

| Re: Leaky ADV. I was on a dive when I had a dil leak at the swivel that attaches to the side of the AP ADV. It took awhile to reach back, but finally after much contortion I slid the barrel on the shutoff and then went to manual dil addition the rest of the dive. I took off the swivel and replaced the o-ring on the side with a Viton one lubed with Christo-Lube, but it still leaded. Ends up being the tiny o-ring in the end of the hose that screws into the swivel opening. Someone shouuld make a sliding barrel shutoff where the barrel does not interfere with the side of the corrugated hose collar as the one I now have does. |

Hi Nick, It sounds logical that the ADV doesn't leak under pressure as you close the internal valve like when you ambient pressure in your lungs when diving. This valve opens when your lungs get flat like a second stage. So if you do a negative test the valve opens also ... this then introduces you shutoff valve ... hose ... manifold ... every hose on the dilluent side of the manifold and you dilluent first stage to the system. Are you sure it's the ADV giving the problems. Try a negative test with the shutoff valve closed ... if it still leaks the you at least isolated all of the other things Paul |

I've ordered a set of O rings to change tem all out, on visual inspection they all seemed to be ok, the only ones i didn't take out to check are the two on the inside of the barrel, will do that when the new set arrive. Do the same tests with it submerged in the bath/tub etc.![]() If you can hear it coming in then it must do it while submerged and you will be able to see it. Only other thing that comes to mind is the actual diaphram of the ADV, maybe small hole that only opens when stretched. Good luck. |

I will reserve judgement untill i have changed all the O rings, after a visual inspection the only remainding culprates are the two O rings inside the barrel, which i can't see fully. If you can hear it coming in then it must do it while submerged and you will be able to see it.
