Poseidon Deep 2nd stages on an Inspiration

Does anyone know if it is possible to run Poseidon Deeps off the standard Apeks regs on the unit for bail out?

I was told there was not enough flow to run them but have spoke to some one else running cyclones and wanted to know if i can run the Deeps.

Thanks

Ivon

Re: Poseidon Deep 2nd stages on an Inspiration

I used to run Cyklon 2nds off both the dil side and the O2 side. Now use only on Dil side. It gives me sufficient gas flow for bailout (tested to 65m). Obviously I have not altered the Apex 1st stage settings. Hope that answers your question.

Are cyclones about the same flow rate, i'm going to stick one on anyway and give it a try.

With seven regs in the house and 5 under a year old i dont realy want to buy any more if possible.

Look here: http://www.poseidon.se/
Deeps are servo assisted according to the blurb whereas Cyklons aren't. Best of luck with your test.

From what I understand you need to check what the lp is. I think that the poseidon regs run around 150. your first stage should be close to this pressure. I could be wrong but I think that each reg has a slightly different ip pressure. You can change the ip by settting your first stage.

Re: Poseidon Deep 2nd stages on an Inspiration

I've been doing it for about 2 years. I haven't any problems. The new Extreme 1st stages have an Ip of ~123psi (8.5 bar)

Re: Poseidon Deep 2nd stages on an Inspiration

I'm not in the service room at the moment, BUT IIRC all the Poseidon regs run around "standard" IP, EXCEPT the Cyklons which run at a much higher IP.

Re: Poseidon Deep 2nd stages on an Inspiration

Pg 6 of the manual "nominal inter-stage pressure 8.5 bar(123psi)"
so the minimum pressure the manufacturer says they will work at is 8.5 bar. mine runs @ 130ish with 2500 psi in the tank. I use the 1st and 2nds on my YBOD.

Re: Poseidon Deep 2nd stages on an Inspiration

Having a quick flick, the Cyklons run a IP of 11.5-12 bar.

The Apeks manual I have is in Imperial, I have no idea what it means but it says the 2nd stage IP should be 140 +-5psi - you'd think that would have died out by now

Re: Poseidon Deep 2nd stages on an Inspiration

Here's a question - how do you fit a flow stop on any of these Poseidon second stages? Personally, I like the idea of having a flow stop like an APEKS, or M & J in the line just in case something decides to go south. I can imagine a Poseidon draining a dil. tank in no time at all. I use Apeks 2nd stages as necklace bailout.
