A possible quick solution is to pass the wire thru the lid for now ?

Would that relieve the pressure on the wire by not pressing it down ?

I don't know if it is possible to change the cable gland to a 90° angle version (don't have a 4th cell holder)?

Hmm, i might give that a try. Although at the moment i just bend the cable in and it doesn't seem to be too drastic....
