| Consent Issued! Current Rebreather/s: | Vision Upgrade Well I finally have the Vision upgrade, and it is poised to be downloaded to the Inspiration. The question is, should I do it? Last time I did an upgrade APD told me that everything was alright, that there were no issues with the software. But they were obviously being "economical with the truth" at the time. So, has anyone found a reason to do the upgrade? Or, has anyone found a reason not to do the upgrade? You should bear in mind that I run the Trimix software that was claimed to be "alright" with the last upgrade. |

| Re: Vision Upgrade 'ere stegs, you could take the Jetsam upgrade. Guaranteed to run on buggy software, but patches are readily available in any good off license!!

I loaded mine for the weekend and Danny B and I scootered the perimiter of Stoney as a burn test. That's V02.01.01 on 18/40 but hardly at trimix depths.

Last time I did an upgrade APD told me that everything was alright, that there were no issues with the software. But they were obviously being "economical with the truth" at the time. In 27 hours of diving, my Vision software (trimix version) has behaved to specification. So I did the upgrade and so far so good (2 dives, total run time 160 minutes or so). I like the new O2 addition routine, more responsive buttons and losing the endless fast ascent warnings after small changes of depth. Even better, my Mac now talks to the Evo (tho' that's off topic - sorry)! So, has anyone found a reason to do the upgrade? Or, has anyone found a reason not to do the upgrade? | Re: Vision Upgrade I know that the instruction was already given above concerning using the USB connection, but I am one of those people needing hand holding when it comes to computer drivers. So in case there are other driver-challenged people like me out there, I am just outlining the steps I did to get the USB connection to work since my new laptop doesn't have a serial port:

| Re: Vision Upgrade I noticed better button response from the upgrade. I have the trimix version, and I haven't had any problems to date. Only one hour on the latest upgrade. |

Sorry this is off topic, I'm new to forums.Graham Graham, how did you get your Evolution to talk Mac? I've got an inspiration vision on order - and I use Macs at work - so any sign of them talking to each other would be good to know about. David. |

However it also comes with a serial <-> USB cable to allow you to connect to a USB equipped machine, which includes Macs.Graham, how did you get your Evolution to talk Mac? I've got an inspiration vision on order - and I use Macs at work - so any sign of them talking to each other would be good to know about. David. The Vision software upgrade that was emailed out recently, came with a PDF document which detailed how to get the APD Communicator software (which you use to upload firmware and download dive profiles) working on Windows XP on Virtual PC for Mac. There are some caveats to this which I posted here http://www.rebreatherworld.com/35050-post12.html I'll hazard a guess that all new Inspiration Visions shipped will have a printout of that PDF file in the documentation folder in the box. Hope this helps Mark
