I suppose the obvious question is how much did that s/s box & the O2 add convertor cost ?

Thanks chaps - good to see some support, its how these boards grow - a bit of encouragement helps almost everyone.

Thanks mate - means a lot coming from you 'engineery types'

Shame you didn't get down to Cornwall for the weekend, at the same time you posted this you could have been 'having a go' - nevermind, still the critique from 'The Team' went well and divegryl signed-up as my first wannabe customer.

Well, as considered various designs, faffed with rather a lot of Rebreather bits and pieces, prototyped the tricky pieces, paid for the engineering work/ tweaks for the o2 add - to get this point - it's cost me quite a lot - suffice to say my girlfriend is now sponsoring me until the end of the month ... again. What a great girl.

I am prepared, seeing as the response so far is positive, to offer packages to those who are up for it. I subscribe to the thoughts of John and Brent (narked@90 and divetheworld) in other recent posts, whereby I'll be in it to cover my costs and hopefully a bit of pocket money in-time. If I can produce say 15-20 to pay for mine then I'll be happy, but it depends on the support you all can give me. If the numbers are good, I can pass-on the saving through producing a larger quantity.

I should like to acknowledge John Routely a.k.a. narked@90 for his fine craftsmanship on the converter - thanks John - its people like you who turn ideas into reality - well done mate, you are an asset to us all.

So, in short, I have a bit more design to do with the s.s box - thinking of cutting harness slots into it to use it as the backplate (a backplate, will also be able to be added too) and as this remains to be done prices are still ballpark. That said, it is likely to be about £350 for small numbers - £300 for batches of about ten.

What you will get:

- 2mm s.s box (doubling as backplate - with harness slots and a sensible array of pre-drilled holes) all s.s welded, and CNC laser-cut (depending on numbers)

- s.s bolts to length, washers and nylok nuts for fixing - you supply mushroom nuts for your own backplate as necessary

- APD T-piece - to include non-intrusive water-trap and blanked hole

- 'Magic converter' with o-ring

--All other APD fittings:--
Complete lower CL assembly for T-Piece,
Corrugated hose fittings
Counter Lung fittings for blanking original manual-add holes

- Bungee and shackle to retain Counter Lungs

- Even a length of black cord to extend the CL dump!!

--- All as per the design - you need source nothing yourself - all included ---

You supply – Counter Lungs and APD o2 manual add valve.

The service will also provide you with a detailed and pictorial guide to assembly - pointing out things I've learn't along the way.

So, if you're up for it - stick your name down - dont be shy.

If you have more questions, ask away... I'll do my best.

regards
paul

Hi Paul
Seriously interested in this ,will be in your neck of the woods mid July, any chance of a gander /try of it ? any idea of cost ? also could this be combined with the other mod of detachable lungs ?( can't remember who just did it )

Hi Colin,

youre more than welcome to have a gander / try - no problem, look me up nearer the time. Cost is oulined in an earlier post. The lungs themselves are completely removable, and it was Brent - a.k.a. divetheworld that made the standard OTS lungs detachable.

HTH
