Re: Vision - It Just Gets Better!

Two tips for getting the head off...well it works on mine...
  1. Try to do it while it is still warm or otherwise have it in a warm room for a hour or so. I have also run a fan heater across the scrubber (from a couple of feet away!!) for about 5-10 minutes first
  2. Get some old neoprene or fold up some leather gloves and put it under the two flanges - it lets you press / pull a bit harder with your fingers against the latice-work without making them bleed!
Have to say I've not noticed it getting any easier with use!!

Thanks hopefull it will come back easier to use, given that without a significant amount of lube it won't even go together I think, that the two parts are not matched. I have wondered about filling in the holes with putty

Hi Steve

Thanks for the tips

Have tried the heating method but the blinking thing still stays firmly in there

Now there's an idea, have to say I tried it with my gloves on and it did cushion it a little. You'd think really that with the head being injection moulded (correct me if I'm wrong) that for the flanges to be solid, so to speak, it wouldn't of been too hard to do. Whereas, as they are it does make it extremely painful if you have to work at getting the head off

Neither have I, infact the whole thread was born out of the d**m thing getting worse

Ho hum the assembly is winging its way to APD courtesy of their courier service. Many thanks to them for sorting that side. I have been told that the turn around is most likely to be mid-week giving me at least 2 weekends of solid diving to do before the Red Sea and to test out the new camera and housing

it is back in time and AP can prove my lack of trust and faith, that has developed due to recent dealings, wrong!

There's still the matter of the software issue but that's another story and thread

I'm pleased that at last they are going to try and sort the hardware...
But are they going to sort out the software at the same time???
I really do think that after all the S**t you've had with the unit they should give you a trimix upgrade to ensure the Red Trip is safe.

I'll lend you Dolly the Dolphin!

My sentiments exactly

Will take it one step at a time at the mo... once they have my head and canister they've got it and knowing how long some have waited to get stuff back... Hmmmm

Don't want to nark them whilst they have it and then hang on to it and screw my trip completely... however, whilst they have it, it would be the perfect opportunity for AP to pull out all the stops and up grade it as a surprise for me

I personally feel that I would be happier and less apprehensive about the thing screwing me over if I knew the software was working 100%. Although they have said it is safe to dive, a timer/ software/ computer that is loosing atleast 15mins per hour is going to be incredibly disorientating and to be honest I will not trust the blasted thing as far as I could throw it

Awwww thankyou sweetie

I must say though thankyou to everyone on RBW that has offered help and support even down to offering the loan of electronics for my trip. I know its cliched but it just shows the forum/ site at its best

Cheers

Re: Vision - It Just Gets Better!

To all off you with the on/off probs.
What kind of lube are you using?
i have experienced several kind of siliconebasedlubes getting very though and hard when the temperature drops..
Actually one of my mates had a problem with his mouthpiece, when he was diving in cold water, (< 5celsius) he could not close neither open his mouthpiece.

Just a suggestion..

Re: Vision - It Just Gets Better!

One of the big advantages of the Trimix software over the Nitrox version (other than it does Trimix and that it actually works ) is that you can adjust the Gradient Factors for what you actually want as opposed to the 5 preset settings that APD give you. You make up your own conservatism with regard to the high and low settings affecting the time for the stops and the deep stop depth. A very nice to have feature even without diving mix.

off hand I really don't remember but it was more than a few thousandts...

the oring diameter on the insp cannister is ~.103, so it will work reasonably well with a fairly large varience.. Unfortunately the first cannister Kevin measured was at the very end of the large side of the spectrum..
