| APD Communicator Hi List, Can anybody help, I have loaded the APD Communicator into the laptop and the drivers for the USB - Serial Adaptor, the Communicator recognises the Com port and the Evo saying that the Com port is open and the device is recognised giving the Evo serial No. The Download & Upload buttons are highlighted. I click on the Download button and get into the download window, I again press the top right hand button to download my dives, the download progress bar starts moving, but after approx 15% download, it gives me "download data failed" without downloading any dives. I have tried re-installing the Communicator software and the USB - Serial Adaptor software but still get failure. Has anybody had this before and managed to fix it. Thanks Leon |

| Re: APD Communicator I had the same problems when I used the USB interface. I tried a few things to fix it including trying new drivers but ended up giving up and just used the serial cable. Since then I had no problems and haven't chased up the problem with the USB adapter.

| Re: APD Communicator Graham, You could try installing the drivers via the Gembird Online Explorer. You can get at it from the driver mini disc. Look for the Gembird Explorer Folder and find the exe file. Follow the menu options for it and it will detect the usb adaptor and download the latest drivers, just run the latest drivers (I unistalled the old drivers first). Good luck Leon |

| Re: APD Communicator Quote: (Originally Posted by decompression_man) Graham, Thanks Leon; did all that but with no better results even tho' all looks good on Device Manager with the right COM port selected and the USB-Serial link visible to the System. But all I get is greyed out boxes so for some reason the process is not getting past the link to the Evo. That said, I do have to concede at this point that trying to do all this on a Mac using Virtual PC may have been a tad ambitious (tho' it talks to my Vytec quite happily). Good luck Leon So I'm going to borrow a real PC and see how things go with that. Thanks anyway. Graham |

| Re: APD Communicator Can't really help you. I'm connected using the serial connection. I can't recall at this time if the USB converter gave me problems. What operating system are you using? Westwinds.

| Re: APD Communicator-non Mac-able I read on my APD software that it is only PC compatible at this point. Verified this with Mike Fowler at SDS to be accurate. Worked on first try for me (PC), so maybe you will have the same luck with your new (or a friends) PC. It's interesting, but not worth buying a PC! |
