Pictures showing this is HERE.

Concerning the strapping the tanks, please have a read thru this thread as we have discussed a few options. However, the best method is what Dave T. recommended.

Re: feedback on Decoweenie travelframe

Hi All

Received my travel frame today. I used the cam buckles to attach the tanks I managed to slightly bend the vertical bars, not sure if they were a little to tight. I was intending on using this frame as permanent replacement for the plastic case. Anyone else doing the same or is the majority just going to use it on occasion?

I've got 5 days of cave diving coming up and I'll post here the results of the abuse I'll be putting it through.

1) Pass some rope through a piece of garden hose. The pass the 2 ends through 2 holes in the center spine, then tie knots in the ends.

2) Use some webbing and attach with a bolt & nut through a hole on the center spine.

Hope this helps.

I just used the original handle. I used the very top hole of the travel frame and just put a 1 bolt thru the 2 holes of the original strap.

I use it permanently.

The frame is tested by someone (weighs 160-lb) standing various parts of the frame, so I am not sure how you managed to bend the bars...

Could you please email me a picture showing how they are bent ? Thanks.

Scott,

Thanks.

We welcome all feed-backs so we could make changes to ensure the highest possible quality while maintaining the best compromise between light-weight and toughness.

Once the drysuit frame project is started, then the weight won't be such a critical issue.

Re: feedback on Decoweenie travelframe

When attaching the cylinders, it's important to make sure that the cylinder is held between the rods when thightening the cambands.

If you don't do that, you will 'lift' the cylinder up and then you can bend the rods; as the cambands just hold on the tubes in the middle you put strain on the weakest point . But even with the tubes bent the frame should still be useable for diving.

It is very good quality and I'm sure it got a little bent because of the way I put the cam band on. Instead of passing it around both vertical rods I passed it thru the buckle on the outside of the rod and then around the other vertical rod. The stress on that buckle put a lot of pressure on the rod it is attached to and bent it just a little bit.

Well I never intend to mount anything bigger than a 4l tank on the back so I think the TF will fulfil all my needs. If I need more I'll sling them.

BTW...

If anyone else feel really happy about their Travel-Frame, I would REALLY appreciate a positive post on the Inspiration List as well since that is the market we are trying to pursue.

If we could sell some more Travel-Frames, it will help to finance the Drysuit-Frame and BMCL projects. Otherwise it will take a little longer to get started due to the high number of components we have to commit to in order for the price to be affordable...

Scott,

I like it so much I think it is going to stay this way for a long while.

In fact, another Inspo diver who has a $3000 case said he thought the travel frame was better than his!
