Inspiration- Alternative Mouthpieces?

Anyone have any good experiences with alternative mouthpieces for the Inspiration? I really do not like the twist - barrel one that comes with it and would prefer to have one with the open shut lever... if possible. What about hose fitting to it if you use an alternative? I use the HUD for the Hammerhead and would also need one where that could be mounted.. Thanks for possible ideas..

Re: Inspiration- Alternative Mouthpieces?

There is a small handle that is made by a third party for the Inspiration DSV... I started using it about a month ago and have found it to be a nice addition.

JB,

Change over to the Divematics USA BOV, and you will have a really nice lever to open and close the mouthpiece, as well as a handy bail-out system.

Its funny.. I used an AP mouthpiec for a long time and never realized how automatic things became..

This season I used a meg DSV exclusively (except when I dove my sport KISS) just so I could get used to it..

I find I miss being able to close the mouthpiece easily with one hand.. sure you can operate a lever with one hand but it really needs one hand to hold the dsv and one to operate the lever, more so in cold water..

Next season I plan on switching back to the original DSV,,,I find It much easier to just grab the side of the dsv with one hand and rotate it by moving my head... I did this without even thinking about it..
This is alot better when climbing a ladder on a rocking boat...

A rotating DSV I think is better than one with a simple lever to operate, but potentially is harder to make and keep a perfect seal..

I have a Bob. It's still a two handed job to shut it off and it seems bulky out of the water but I'll put up with that for the OC valve. It doesn't clear quite so well but a quick tip of the head on exhale and it's done.

Sadly I don't think you can get them new anymore but they pop up secondhand now and again.

All of the above. I have one too and I would never part with it (until something better comes along).

Nige, do you have yours on an AP GCS connector? How do you find it when testing at depth?

No but I wondered about one. It's "hard wired" at the moment which is annoying when it's in the bath for a clean.

I've breathed it at 55m and didn't notice anything. In fact I only realised later that that was the first time I had used it deep and I was only doing a hose stretch-and-shake. It felt no different from the pool.

Mine worked OK at around 80m. WOB wasn't brilliant. (Viper + GCS)

BOB DSV is great. There are a few left available - might be able to put people in touch with someone who has one if they're interested.

Cool, I've tried mine out in similar circumstances with the GCS. I noticed no problems. Well, not entirely true. But that was due to poorly setup valve. Since then, it has been perfect.
Truthfully, I havnt seen the need to bail or try out the bail at any real depth. I'm wondering how good it will be. I also have a standard flow stop on it.

Interesting. I didn't put a flowstop on as I felt I could just shut the dil valve. I have one on the ADV.

Do you have problems switching it for a negative check? There seems to be a leak point as I swing it that pops most of my hose compressions but those that are left hold.

We must stop hijacking JB/resolute's thread or he'll never get other alternatives as a Bob isn't easy to get now.
