Re: Hybrid available

if they'd add an extra port in the head for a fischer/shearwater/VR3 on all 3 cells for true hybrid manual mode and they might someday have me back as a customer.

Nice feature, no doubt. What other Rebreather's have this today?

But to me a Yellow BOV would be more valuable at the moment.

We seek it here, we seek it there,
Those Techies seek it everywhere.

Is it in water?—Is it in vapour?
That demmed, elusive Bail Out Valve

I believe that the rEvo will be offered with full mCCR/eCCR hybrid options with the above level of reduncancy... actually even to a greater degree with true cell isolation. The hammerhead CCR is offered with full mCCR/eCCR hybrid in field, interchangability. The copis meg has multiple ports in the head which lend themselves quite nicely to third party add ons.

the vision really could use a second handset with truly separate battery and brain... it would, IMHO, allow one to enjoy the thoroughbread performance of the state of the art vision technology, while offering a back up option for diving mCCR when she's feeling colicky.

cheers,
g

Re: Hybrid available

All are barking up the wrong tree:

Their version of a "Hybrid" is small bottles and big scrubber. It's a hybrid between the full sized rig and the Evolution.

From the APD website:

"With the Inspiration offering advantages in scrubber duration and the Evolution offering advantages in size and weight, the choice between the two has proved a tough one for some customers. We are delighted to introduce our hybrid unit...the Evolution+. The Evolution+ combines the 2 litre cylinders from the Evolution and the larger scrubber as used on the Inspiration, all housed in a new specially designed case giving the best of both worlds."

It's still a baseline eCCR, not an "Orifice/eCCR Hybrid" as the term has come to mean.

Sorry guys..... Well, not really: We still need a rig to compare the against the truly redundant ones.....

Dave

Re: Hybrid available

I seem to remember Billy Deans' MK15 with a 16 center section referred to as the hybrid, quite a long time ago.
