| Re: Check your ADV feed hoses!!! We are talking about the hose issue here nothing else and as far as we know this is isolated to a few hoses. If every unit leaving the factory had this problem then it would be a much bigger problem. Given that the units were sold in April and they've only just fail in August after 4 months that's not bad for a hose that isn't finished. PS nobody has been proven to have died as a direct result of battery bounce. (to my knowledge) Post read with coffee in mouth, sadly, as laughter caused spewing and need to clean screen.... Are you ****ing kidding? No... don't answer that: Sadly you're not. Sutton .

| Re: Check your ADV feed hoses!!! ******* Subsequent Posting indicates the coments below are wrong.. left them in as they are referenced by others - will stick to drilling holes in the ground :-) ***** Looking at the pictures a bit closer I'm wondering if this isn't a new fitting rather than simply being an old style fitting that hasnt been crimped. Without seeing the fitting from the other end I cant be sure but the sleeve looks a lot beefier than the stainless plate used for the compression fit. The fact that the sleeve is still on the hose would suggest it is similar to APDs screw fit hose ends in that there is a coarse thread inside the sleeve that engages the outside of the hose. Anyone with a failed one care to confirm? Steve Last edited by UKSteve : 14th August 2008 at 18:11. Reason: Added note at top reflecting clarification from Taza |

| Re: Check your ADV feed hoses!!! Interesting idea. Wouldn't it have a hex fitting if it was screwed on ?

| Re: Check your ADV feed hoses!!! Interesting idea. Wouldn't it have a hex fitting if it was screwed on ? Yes.. that was my concern too. it just looks too solid to be a crimping sleeve. The end does not look line the one on the other picture either.. with the champhered shoulder...Interested to hear what the owners say Steve |

| Re: Check your ADV feed hoses!!! Trust me this should be a crimped fitting, the other end which screws into the manifold is of the manual type where they have two hex heads that you use two spanners to tighten the fitting. http://i328.photobucket.com/albums/l...ADVHOSE003.jpg As soon as I e-mailed AP they told me to send it straight back to them and that they would send me a new hose. The new hose arrived Tuesday by special delivery. I have 20 dives on the unit some 45mtr dives, good job I carry bail out. Taza |

| Dude Current Rebreather/s: | Re: Check your ADV feed hoses!!! The end that screws into the manifold is non crimped, but the ADV end should be crimped. I see you are in the UK. Have you reported AP to the HSE for selling defective life support equipment? I recommend you do so. I have just removed the hose from my unit and lightly pulled on the hose and it just came apart in my hand. Their QC needs to be investigated as a matter of urgency... Someone with an uncrimped feed hose could die.

| Re: Check your ADV feed hoses!!! I have not been to the factory, I don't think I need to. If I under go a surgery, I never visit the factory that manufactures the hospital equpment either. Why on earth would I need to know the MD and dive with the staff to be able to appreciate some defects that threaten my life and should have been picked up by quality control?? I simply do not get the posts by Beanie, unless he's paid by AP. Out of the new units sold to Finland, it seems that more than half have the same problem. To me that's an indication of a larget problem than "a few hoses," which already is too much. And further on Beanies comments: If a unit is sold with a severe defect and it blows only in August... how does this make it a lesser problem??? Is it semi ok in September and fine in Dec?? You can fit a set of tires on a race car and and leave the bolts untightened. Everything might go smoothly for a few rounds, but sooner or later the tire will break loose and then it's only a question where and when. No timing was favorable, in predive checks rather than e.g at 70m at Fu Shan Hai. I have to say, I've been happy with the unit and AP service this far. That's why this seems so supricing to me. Both from QC and customer care points of view. janne Have you been to the factory? Have you dived with the staff and MD? How much AP kit have you had?
