| Re: Best way to mount a 3l to the outside Hi This is what I used on my classic and now on my Inspiration Vision, I know it specifically mentions the evolution but they can be used on all the Inspirations, the only difference is that with the classic you may need to drill the two holes if you dont want to use the existing cam bands:Has anybody got any suggestions on the best way of mounting another 3L on an Inspiration? for the shallower stuff rather than be taking 7Ls Thanks Ged A.P.Diving Direct |

| Re: Best way to mount a 3l to the outside The AP evolution brackets are made by metalsub. I have a pair of their standard pony brackets (rather than the special evolution ones) mounted to the plastic case of my vision. They fit the contour of the edge of the box and are just about perfect for offboard 3's. |

| Re: Best way to mount a 3l to the outside Sorry John I didn’t know your brackets would fit onto the inspo plastic box – in that case I would recommend the brackets by Kent Tooling! Very, very well made kit and, I suspect, a tad cheaper than the metal sub ones. |

It works fine, though with the longer 3L you need to be careful that you don't block access to the onboard valves. I found that even with the cylinders as high as they can go, I had trouble reaching the onboard valves. Had to really crank my wrist and use fingertips. The offboard cylinders just got in the way of where my arm needed to be. There was loads of space around the valve, just couldn't comfortably get to it.I ended up making two brackets that relocated the brackets two inches further back. Made all the difference and it doesn't get in the way of opening the case either. They are just a bit of flat plate bend at 30 degrees. Regards Stewart |

| Re: Best way to mount a 3l to the outside That's a question I personally had some itensive navel-gazing over too! The Narked at 90 stand seemed to me to be a nice way to go... but seemed a little expensive, and lightweight... SO... I built an aluminium box that sits beneath the YBOD. The base allows a box to be made with 300mm width and 150mm depth or 12 by 6 inches. THat dimension allows a stubby 3L pony, which is neat, tidy and streamlined. THIS allows a permanent bail-out for dives in shallow depths AND backup of 7L - 12L stage and extra gas options to boot. ALL GOOD stuff!
