Weight different for KT Box

Hi,

This question is for those who went from the yellow box to the Kent Tooling box:

Can people tell me roughly the weight they used to dive with when they had a yellow box, then when they changed to the KT box (with the same suit and configuration etc.). I've got a KT with metal cylinder mounts aswell.
This'll give me a rough idea then of how much weight to drop off when I try the KT box.

Also did you change the weight amount on top aswell?

Thanks,
Nick..

Re: Weight different for KT Box

I was diving a Inspo Classic. Looking at my log book. In a DS in 4C water I was using a total of 12 lbs/5 kg of which 4 lbs/2 kg was trim weight mounted in the velcro pouch on top of the yellow box.

When I changed to the KT Frame I did not require any additional weight to sink but did need to add 3 lbs/1.5 kg near the top of the frame to achieve good trim.

So I was able to drop 9 lbs/4 kg in total weight and 1 lb/0.5 kg for trim.

Ok great.
Do you have the metal side mounts or use cam belts. Also do you have the handle?

Anyone else drop about 5kg or more?

Re: Weight different for KT Box

Kt frame + kt SS back plate ,with 2 metal quick release mounts for the 3's & a smaller one for the suit bottle (all kt ) I went from 9kg inc 3kg top weight to no weight at all . I think some of this was due to the fact I was always nervous & up tight with the yellow box whereas the frame just felt right . Did take some playing to aleviate the back ache but have it sorted & can do 2 - 3 hour runtimes with no problem . No handle other than the AP one
