New Vision & both SPG scratched

Hi,

i just received recently my Vision (after long time of waiting) .
When i took it out of the box i saw that both SPGs are pretty scratched on the surface
Does any of this anti-scratch stuff for displays of mobiles might help?

Any tipps are welcome,

Mehdi-Saman

Re: New Vision & both SPG scratched

hi Mehdi-Saman
are you sure that the face of SPG's are scratched,
why i ask , a mate of mine thought the same, until i looked at the SPG's
on he's o2 + dil there where anti-scretch covers .
i removed them for him .
it was not the glass that was scratch but just the anti-scratch covers
hope this is the same with your SPG's
and this is of some help to you
safe diving

Re: New Vision & both SPG scratched

if they are scrached then it might be best to get the manufacturer to replace them.

Re: New Vision & both SPG scratched

The standard guages are pretty crappy anyway. I have had the lenses pop off and shoot across the room on a couple of occasions. It creates a failure point for catistrophic gas loss. I would replace them with something better like a small brass and glass SPG.

Aloha,
Charlie

Re: New Vision & both SPG scratched

The anti-scratch film that comes fitted to the guages from new seems to last for 2 or 3 dives before starting to peel off.

I cut some helicopter tape into round circles and fitted it to both mine and Nic's guages and it's still going strong 6 months later.

Hope that helps

Graham

Re: New Vision & both SPG scratched

who cares, my vision gauges are scratched as hell (yours will be too, as when moving the unit round they tend to scrape on the floor/boat deck etc due to there position)

So long as i can still see through the scratches happy days. The new small guages are crap compared to the big old blue rubber and glass ones, but the benefit is that they are a lot smaller and lighter for travel. No probs with my vision guages since 2005 other than they have scratched and scuffed.

Fully agree with Charlie. From my perspective the guages are a really sub-standard. Getting rid of them was the 2nd mod I did (first being that Auto-Air Pig).

Must be because I'm also South African. I agree on the Auto-Air POS too.

Aloha,

Re: New Vision & both SPG scratched

when i got the vision, my pg were both scratched. This was because of how they are packed in the box.

i contacted ap and and was told to send them back so they can be replaced, but i told them clearly that i waited a hell of a long time and i was going to dive the unit and when i receive the new pressure gauges i will send the scratched ones back.

that is what they did, it was more because when i pay money for something.....which is not cheap i expect it to be in good order.
