Hello all I have decided to get the new hammerhead. So what I am after is some feed back about what people think about the new hammerhead. Also any feed back on the DIVA. Is it a simple plug in and play or is there a few things needed to be done before use. How has the handsets and software been. (hand sets look good). Also at the momment I am using a VR3 and 4th cell as main computer. I am thinking of selling this on when I get the hammerhead, should I keep the VR3 or just sell it on. (Have a back ccr computer as well) Thanks for any advice Robprice

I personally run the HH with a second computer plumbed into the loop (I use the explorer), now I have 2 deco algs that when tuned correctly give reasonably similiar profiles (the HH being slightly more conservative even when set at 10/100). iF the HH computer craps out (like a dead battery), you still have another computer with real time deco... If you are going to count on the computer for your deco (as opposed to tables) you should have at least 2 (preferrably three) computers (or combination tables/computer), because its not IF a computer will fail its WHEN a computer will fail.. If you are multilevel diving, multiple computers would be preferred... I know I am personally going to miss the fischer connectors (I never had a problem with them), but I am anal with my gear... I know several people who have had units with fischer connectors around 150m without any issues...

To carry on with were I left of. I would like to know what people think of the deco soft ware that is used in the hammerhead. Do people find that after using it for a while and have ajusted settings with in the handsets that it is running in line with there main computers that they use... ie VR3 and are willing to use that as ther main dive computer. Hopfully there should be a bit more feed back now as there is more of these out there now that the Optima is in service and if I am not mistaken this uses the same software. Do peoeple use the hammerhead as there main computer for deco or remain with a external one as the main dive computer. I do understand the need for a back up computer and always dive with one and also back up tables and watch. But after paying out for such equipment and starting to hoard a lot now I feel I need to start to way up cost of todays equipment and start to sell to replace (then buy more new kit). As yet I have not had chance to dive the hammerhead on my unit yet hopfully when I get back I will. Robprice

I'm diving the original HH version on my O2ptima for over than 1 year and I really enjoy it. We receive 3 new units with the new handsets and they just got better. On the last two weeks I trained 6 students on the O2ptima and all 6 finish the course happy with the HH electronics. We had some issue with external corrosion and on the spring located at the battery cap on the new handsets but already fixed it. About the back up computer I do the same than Joe. I always carry a back up computer, in my case a VR3 and back up tables for the specifical dive. Cheers, Mike - www.protecdiving.com |

Re: New Hammerhead @mikedive How did you fix the problem with the spring located at the battery cap? By yourself or is there an upgrade available from Kevin? DINspiration

Re: New Hammerhead We changed recently from a Stainless Steel Spring to a Phosphor-Bronze spring. We found that the Stainless Steel Spring would sometimes shift against the ground pad on some batteries, and not make as good a contact as one would think. This seemed to me to be somewhat counterintuitive, but our shop guy, Ken, demonstrated it to me enough that I became a believer. ((Which just goes to show you that no matter how smart you think you are, there is always something else to learn in this world!)). We offer free replacement springs to anyone who has a metal HH wrist unit with the Stainless springs. Kevin Juergensen Juergensen Marine.
