Smallest O2 rated 1st stage reg?

Hi,

I have decided that I want a small backup O2 supply that I can plumb into my O2 addition button. No real stress there, but I want to use a small buddy emergency bottle as the O2 supply, located in the sling already on the wing.

I have already got a valve to stick in the top of the bottle to make it a standard Din fitting but I am on the lookout for a small regulator so that the complete unit does not become too big and get in the way. Compact and reliable is the name of the game.

Interstage pressure is not an issue as its going to the addition button.

I am familiar with the Apeks range and already have a DS4.

Any other suggestions out there?

I know people who are using the Salvo Argon 1st stage as their O2 reg. I don' believe it comes O2 clean but it is very compact. The only drawback is it doesn't have a HP port.

my vote is for the Zeagle Envoy Razor

gets rid of the valve/reg and combines into one.

has a valve so you can turn it off, not like the others that are always on

O2 clean (to 40%) from factory

How about the Oceanic SP4, similar size to the scubapro MK2.

This reg is sold by many companies out there. I use it on my 6 CF back-up O2 bottle..

It definitely needs to be O2 cleaned.... There was a ton of lube in the one that I cleaned.

The price is right, (Golem Gear $60.00) but the lack of a HP port is a bit of a pain. You have to through a tank gauge on it before the days diving. You also need to add an Over-pressure Relief Valve on to the 2nd LP port. It's an additional $25.00.

Hi,

I like the idea of the combined valve and regulator but I need an 18mm version if thats the case. So the Zeagle one won't work for me cos its NPSM

I reakon its going to have to be the Salvo or equivalent.

Si-Tech have a tiny suit inflation valve that may be what you are looking for.

I use the Salvo on my argon bottle, and it is very small. If you want a gauge on the regulator, Highland has a similar model that has a high pressure port. I would also recommend O2 cleaning before use.

check out H2Odyssey H2Odyssey...Air Systems

they have some nice 1st stages that are also the valve with shut off and depending what model will have either 1 or 2 HP ports and come in piston & diaphram.
