![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | HUD Issues Just a quick question WRT my HUD. I went for a dive today and noticed that the green light on C2 was very dim and I could hardly see it. I was wondering if anyone else has had the same problem and hope for a little direction. I think it may be that there is some salt crystals on the LED and that they need to be cleaned. Any help would be great. Thanks Rob |

Any help would be great. You've probably pulled the fibre optic away from the LED's in the head.Strip down the fibre optic cable entry on the top of the head and give it a clean. You'll need two spanners to undo the gland, so that you don't twist the cable in the head. When you reassemble, note that the spreader inside only goes back in one orientation, but that you can get the cable in one of four positions. Trial and error will see you in the correct one. You can trim back the ends of the optic cable if you wish, it's only polymer. Just use a sharp knife. The HUD end strips just as easily. I managed to screw mine up inside a wreck in the Solomons. 10 minutes with some spanners sorted it out. That was AFTER the dive, before some pedant says anything! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: HUD Issues When you take the HUD cable off - check the LEDs directly on the top of the lid - if the LED is dim there then it is an APD service. They will need to swap out the electronics inside since it is totally sealed. I had one of my red ones go once and APD replaced it under warranty even though the warranty had long expired. There is a little service guide to show you how to remove the HUD cable. APD will send it to you or I should be able to find a copy at home.

Thanks for the info, I pulled it off yesterday and one of the green LED's in the lid were dimI had one of my red ones go once and APD replaced it under warranty even though the warranty had long expired. So I will have to talk to Mike at SDS to see what I have to do about it. This sucks as It just got back from AP a couple of months ago! I am in Hawaii right now and I will use it for the rest of the trip but will have to get this looked into when I am back in Canada.Rob |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: HUD Issues It looks like it will have another overseas holiday back to Cornwall after the it is finished with the Hawaiian sun and sand holiday. Not tragic but just a bit of time to do the replacement. Until then it is not too bad - the red ones are the biggys. Good luck.

![]() | Re: HUD Issues Rob... So... you are in Hawaii, hmmm there's a fish outta water - how did you find the water temp, compared to CANADA! I hope you left all your WARM stuff behind! Hehe! Sorry to hear you have HUD problems... still, perhaps you can make it a training lesson and keep a weather-eye on you WTC, not SUCH a bad thing ... eh? Probably a good opportunity to lock-in some good habits! Hope you enjoy your diving there, lucky (cold water) bugger!
